LET US EMBRACE THE WILL OF GOD IN ALL THINGS!

In 1855, Pauline-Marie Jaricot was plunged deep into her well, enclosed inextricably in a labyrinth of contradictions. In the midst of this great suffering, she prayed; “I adore Thee, Will of my beloved Spouse, Will of my Lord, Will of my Savior! I surrender myself to Thee! I thank Thee! I place myself at Thy side! I renounce myself by preference! I love what pleases Thee! Thou art my wealth, even in this life, because true wealth is to reach divine union! In thunderstorms, hailstones, thunders, I will bless the Lord!” (L 61)

In the very core of Pauline’s distress, she always managed to sing God’s praises. What else is sanctity but a perfect conformity to God’s Holy Will! In Heaven, we will see that what caused us pain here upon earth was nothing other than proofs of God’s Mercy.

Pauline had fought from her youth, and still fought to the last hours of her life not only against the rage of the devil and the malice of men, but especially a continual war against her own impetuous nature. She had asked to be immolated for the salvation of souls and so she would not find any scandal in this heavy crucible placed upon her shoulders. It is imperative to see all things as God’s Holy Will and, in this way, one is not exposed to that which weakens charity. Love is preserved amidst all suffering. Her only fear was the loss of God’s Love and His Mercy. If we love the Will of God, it will be our sole treasure and our most tender reward. Patience in all things! Bless the Lord! When our will is fully submissive to the action of God, He is free to hide under the cloud of the action of His creatures. The less we know, the less ‘WE’ act, and all the more God can powerfully perform His work in us.

We must place our absolute confidence in the One Who is our Creator and Savior. We do not choose, He chooses for us that which is for His greater glory and our best good. There is only one good, one truth, one desire by which we reach the beatitude of the Saints in Heaven: God’s Holy Will always and forever! It is demanded of us by Our Lord Jesus Christ in the OUR FATHER. The submission of our intelligence and our will is the true death we must undergo. This is the martyrdom that Pauline daily carried in her body and soul. If she could do nothing else, she could for love of souls shed the blood of her heart. How many tears she shed of which God was the only witness and which He alone would reward!

We realize that her heroic faith, love, energy of soul and the long martyrdom she suffered enabled Pauline to become one with her crucified Savior, Our Eucharistic King. Through this fusion of her being with Christ through suffering, they became as one. Cardinal Villecourt testified: The position of this true maiden of the Church is a problem that no one can solve. There is something so extraordinary in everything related to it, that it is difficult to believe the events come from anywhere but God, in order to purify the victim soul of Pauline. Her oppressors condemned her to a long and agonizing death; her crown of glory will be no different than the palm of the martyrs. Just before the death of Pauline, the holy Cure of Ars proclaimed from his pulpit “I know someone who carries many heavy crosses and who carries them with great love. It is Pauline-Marie Jaricot. If you run from the cross, you will be crushed. If you embrace the cross with love, you will obtain victory.” Pauline not only accepted her cross but also carried it valiantly to the end of her life. When asked how she could bear this suffering, she drew out her Crucifix and replied, “I have looked at Him, I have loved Him, and I have understood; this is why I forgive all.”

Pauline loved to sign herself ‘the poor one of Mary,’ for the poor have only God for support and only God as their strength and help, but God alone is sufficient!

Dearest Patti:My wife, Mary, and I are most blessed by and thankful for your ministry, wonderfully manifest in the most generous gift of lovely and inspirational Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena (ULRA) materials we are sharing with friends in our community as well as in Canada. We are indeed blessed to be united with you and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ and His Mother in the ‘great family’ that is the Universal Living Rosary Association.

Frequently homebound by increasingly debilitating health issues throughout the year 2013, I have sensed the grace of the “temple” of my body being “torn down” in order to allow the Holy Spirit to direct Mary and I as how best to spread the message of God’s love and mercy in our community.

That Blessed Spirit moves in mysterious ways and, quite unexpectedly, situations arose and people in our community and from the seven prayer apostolates in the US, Canada and Italy in which we are members (including you!) presented themselves as opportunities and guides in the past week for discernment and direction. Our longtime and ever increasing devotion to the Divine Mercy, Holy Rosary and intercession of St. Joseph (as patron of workers), St. Philomena (as patroness of youth), Blessed Luigi and Maria Quattrocchi (as patrons of spouses, families and the pro-life movement), Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (as patron for youth of our time) and Blessed Maria Teresia Ledochowska (as patroness of abolition of slavery in all its forms) has blossomed beyond our expectations.

We, with the approval of our pastor, have embarked on a program of prayerful gatherings and presentations to our area youth and couples as well as publications in the regional media in which we share our love for Our Dear and Merciful Lord and celebrate the examples of His Holy Mother and the Saints and Blesseds of our time.

And, today, as I had the grace to help coordinate for the second year our local “America Needs Fatima” Rosary in our parish church of St. Mary (founded in 1823 by Father Antoine Blanc of Lyon, France, with support from Venerable Pauline-Marie Jaricot!), we were blessed to be in company of more than 100 brothers and sisters in Christ and His Mother, a five-fold increase over last year’s participation, and all were provided the opportunity to enroll in the Universal Living Rosary Association, thanks to the materials you so graciously sent us.

Please know that, though we may be separated in physical proximity from you and other members of the ULRA family, you are always in our hearts and we offer you our deepest gratitude, love, many daily prayers and best wishes in all that you do in and for Our Lord. May our Kind and Gracious Lord bless you and your loved ones, all ways and in all ways!

My husband had been suffering from intense left flank pain for a week. Since Mr. Ed Sindiong gave me some Saint Philomena oil, I applied it on the area and the pain subsided for a few days. Then, one day, the pain recurred. We decided to see a doctor specialist in Dumaguete City. The diagnosis was an obstruction of a kidney stone in his right proximal urethra and his creatinine measured nine. The recommendation was to undergo shockwave to pulverize the stone. On August 25, 2013, we decided to go to Cebu City supposedly for the shockwave procedure. Tests were conducted the following day. The next day, the results came out and my husband was admitted in the hospital to monitor his creatinine, which read nine. Shockwave was ruled out because this will cause internal bleeding when the creatinine is above five. An operation to insert a stint into the urethra to remove the stone and ease the passage of urine was prescribed instead of it. First, a dialysis had to be conducted to manage his creatinine.

The first of four sessions of dialysis was conducted on August 28. We prayed the Rosary all throughout the 4-hour procedure. All through this time, the pain was still intense. Although a pain reliever was given every 8 hours, it only last for six. It was the St. Philomena oil and the praying of the Rosary which took care of the remaining 2 hours and which also put him back to sleep at night when he was awaken by severe pain.

After a week and four dialysis procedures, we decided to go back to Dumaguete because his creatinine was still high at 9.6. Stint insertion could not be done at this level. We were referred to another specialist in Dumaguete to handle his case. The IJ catheter attached to his shoulder for the dialysis procedure was not removed yet in case he needed another dialysis.

The creatinine read 11.1 this time. The doctor said we needed to proceed with the stint operation to remove the stone and allow urine to pass smoothly. Based on the creatinine result, his left kidney was no longer functioning. We needed to take the risk despite the high creatinine level to save the right kidney. It takes only 8 weeks to lose it and we were now on the 3rd week.

In the afternoon of September 16, my husband again underwent a creatinine test. That night, my husband and I prayed the Rosary together and asked for the intercession of St. Philomena as usual. Then, I applied Holy Water on the pain area and did casting out of evil spirits. After that, we applied the St. Philomena oil. On our way to the hospital to get the result of the creatinine test the previous day, the kidney stone passed out.

It was at this point where we revealed to the doctor the happy news that the kidney stone had come out! He was so surprised because he said he had not done anything. He said he still had to have the stone examined. It was 1.1 cm in size. But he did not discount the power of prayer and the works of God.

In our ardent desire to get the stone out, my husband also resorted to alternative medicine from naturopathy doctor. He acknowledged that it takes around three months to expel a stone and creatinine level could not be lowered this fast.

On September 20, my husband’s creatinine registered 1.8 and 1.9 on September 24. The doctor this time personally removed the tubes intended for dialysis procedure, a remnant of my husband’s hospitalization in Cebu almost a month ago.

By October 8, another creatinine test will be done. Nevertheless, one thing is sure for my husband and me, he has been cured and we have the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Philomena to thank a million times over for their intercession to God, our Healer. To Him be all the glory!

Share Your Gift of Faith

For centuries, our cherished Catholic faith has been passed from person to person, parent to child, etc. Each of us carries in our heart a special memory of how God first graced us with the knowledge of the faith and how Our Blessed Mother, Saint Philomena, Venerable Pauline Jaricot and other saints changed our lives and brought us closer to Christ.

In our work in the Universal Living Rosary Association, we see first hand how millions of souls are currently living without that knowledge of God and are living outside of His grace. We have been given a beautiful opportunity to carry out Christ’s work and pass on our faith and blessings to others who would otherwise never be introduced to Our Lord, the Savior of all mankind. Just as we pray for the souls in Purgatory who have no one to pray for them, we should also make it a part of our life’s mission to pass on our faith to as many souls as possible who have no one else to pass it on to them, who don’t know Our Lord and His promise of salvation.
