THE INFINITE LOVE OF THE DIVINE EUCHARIST (concluded)
ALL IS IN HIM! Oh, Infinite Love, settled on our Altars, be always my hope, my consolation, my strength and all my happiness! Oh, that I might render worthy homage to Thy goodness! At least, I will do what my weakness permits and I will loudly declare that I have never presented myself before Thee without receiving some particular good. The fire of Thy Tabernacle has always consumed my most violent passions. Thy Heart, living and pure, has revealed to me my misery and my helplessness and hast made a success of my undertakings. My baseness has been rewarded a thousand times by Thy most signal favors. Thy gentle lessons have always crushed my pride without discouraging me. I am able to raise myself up by the assurance of Thy Love. It is at the foot of Thy holy Tabernacle that my heart, hardened by the harshest trials, has constantly found the necessary strength to bear their rigors. It is at Thy Feet that my struggles were changed into victories, my feebleness into courage, my lukewarmness into fervor, and my uncertainties into lights. At Thy feet, my sadness is turned into joy, my obstacles into success, my desires into willingness; my antipathies, my jealousies, and my resentments against my neighbor, into the most ardent charity. All that I know I have learned at Thy Feet, Lord. Receive, then, the homage of all that I am, of all that I possess, of all the good that I will ever be able to think, say and do. Receive, in particular, the homage of this little work, which I believe to be Thine. Bless it! Bless all those who will read it with a virtuous heart so that in the end they will understand, O Infinite Love, that Thou art the source of all light and life of the Church, of society, and of the world! “O my Jesus, I love Thee with all my heart. With the help of Thy Grace, I will avoid sin and the dangerous occasions of sin. I will live only for Thee and with Thee through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.”

EXTRACTS FROM THE LETTER OF POPE PIUS XII
To Fr. Mateo Crawley-Boevey on 2nd July 1948, on the Fiftieth Anniversary of his Priesthood Dear Son: We send you our Apostolic Benediction. It will soon be the fiftieth anniversary of the glorious day when, invested with the priestly dignity, you offered for the first time the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We want send you our congratulations and best wishes from our paternal heart, as it has come to our attention that you are in a hospital, not because of advanced age, but because of a very serious disease, which leaves you unable to continue working with that dedication and enthusiasm, with which you have always devoted to the work of the Consecration of Catholic families to sweetest Heart of Jesus. But what you cannot do through the apostolic work or preaching and apostolic journeys, you can replace with ardent prayers addressed to God our Lord, as well as the anxieties and sufferings resignedly accepted in a spirit of reparation. ….The consecration of Catholic families to the most tender Heart of Jesus… corresponds to our most cherished desires, as it did to those of Predecessors. We long for the return to the private life of men and the public life of peoples of the love of Jesus Christ, which springs from His Divine Heart. In this way alone will it be possible to console the many who are afflicted and in misery, to strengthen the many who are weak and wavering, to arouse effectively the many who are negligent and lukewarm, and finally to induce everyone to the fervent practice of that Christian virtue which gave to the primitive Church its greatest glory, that of sanctity and martyrdom. Let the Divine Redeemer reign once more in civil society and in family life, by His Law and His Love, and then without any doubt will be rooted out entirely those vices which are the source of human unhappiness and human misery… However, there is one thing we desire in a special way and which is moreover the principal goal in the work which you have propagated so long and so diligently namely, that Christian families consecrate themselves to the Sacred Heart "in such a way that His image being installed in the place of honour in the home, as on a throne, Christ the Lord is seen to reign truly within the Catholic family." (A.A.S. 1 91 5, vol.7, p. 203). This consecration is not a useless and empty ceremony, but requires of everyone that their lives be in harmony with Christian precepts, that they burn with an ardent love for the Holy Eucharist, and that they share in the Heavenly Banquet as often as possible: and that they strive by humble prayers addressed to God, and by works of holy penance to provide by all means in their power not only for their own salvation but also for the salvation of others. FOREWORD There are few names in our generation that carry with them the very aura of sanctity as does that of Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey. For many years now, priests and people in all parts of the world have been drawn closer and closer to the Sacred Heart of our Divine Lord by the moving words and inspired writings of this twentieth century St. Paul. It is surely an event of high religious significance each time we are able to present some new thoughts from his grace-full mind. This present meditation studies in his characteristic way the Sacrifice and the Sacrament of the Mass, exploring at once the very heart of its meaning and exposing this most complex of subjects in words of utter simplicity. No one will come from reading these words without a fuller knowledge of his own unique participation in the central act of our worship. No one however learned but will find here some new thoughts which have come out of the probing meditations of the saintly mind of Father Mateo. "The thoroughly Christian life" he says, "is a living Mass" and each one must abandon himself priest and people, in a complete self-surrender which makes him one with the very Victim Himself. It is only by this intimate union with the Sacrifice and the Sacrament that the complete riches of the Mass are made available for a redeemed humanity, adoring, praising and blessing the undivided Trinity through the person of Jesus Christ. I can commend this latest work of Father Mateo only by expressing the wish that it be accepted by the untold numbers who have been his readers for so long and that his sublime words continue to move the hearts of all men everywhere. I commend it especially to priests whose life is so intimately bound up with the Sacrifice which these pages so gloriously describe. For them, as for the generation that will follow, these words of Father Mateo are sources of lasting inspiration and sanctity. + Richard J. Cushing, Archbishop of Boston |

Share Your Gift of FaithFor centuries, our cherished Catholic faith has been passed from person to person, parent to child, etc. Each of us carries in our heart a special memory of how God first graced us with the knowledge of the faith and how Our Blessed Mother, Saint Philomena, Venerable Pauline Jaricot and other saints changed our lives and brought us closer to Christ. In our work in the Universal Living Rosary Association, we see first hand how millions of souls are currently living without that knowledge of God and are living outside of His grace. We have been given a beautiful opportunity to carry out Christ's work and pass on our faith and blessings to others who would otherwise never be introduced to Our Lord, the Savior of all mankind. Just as we pray for the souls in Purgatory who have no one to pray for them, we should also make it a part of our life's mission to pass on our faith to as many souls as possible who have no one else to pass it on to them, who don't know Our Lord and His promise of salvation. This is the box we send out to the foreign Missions $77.95. It contains Rosaries, Scapulars, Miraculous Medals, Cord & Oil, Newsletters, Calendars, Catechism books, 2 TAN books, large color prints, lists and encouragement for our Promoters. |
