Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Dear Apostles and Benefactors of the Living Rosary,

The war in Ukraine continues to wage and our spiritual courage is challenged. If we are to be faithful, it is necessary for us to enter into ourselves. A monthly Retreat is necessary in order for us to persevere: if we are lukewarm, it will re-animate our initial fervor; if we are lax, it will help us to enter again upon our faithfulness to duty. We are pilgrims, journeying on toward our Heavenly Home. Love should spur us to walk the steep, narrow and rugged road that leads to Eternal Life, the happy Home of the Saints. The monthly day of retreat pondering exclusively the end of man, will be a powerful aid to perseverance and the earnest renewal of our Baptismal Vows.

Death will reduce our body to ashes and detach us from all earthly goods, longings and desires. We will be stripped naked. Death will come to all of us! Who is promised one more day? We procrastinate the thought of death, waiting until we can find more time, reduced demands on our resources, and a quiet space for meditation. Who can count on another year or another day? We must be ready NOW! What if, this very hour, we are called to give an account of our lives? At our judgement, we shall not be asked what sins we have committed, but whether we have done the Will of God. Why not do now, what one day we will wish we had done, but it will be too late? The measure of our fidelity upon earth will be the measure of God’s Love for us, and our love for Him, during all Eternity.

Death is certain. Be ready for it. At an hour you do not expect, it will come like a thief in the night. “My children we have but one soul and if that is lost, all is lost; and once lost, it is lost for all Eternity!” St. Teresa

“Behold me, O my God, ready to embrace the death which Thou hast destined for me. From this moment, I accept it and sacrifice to Thee my life in honor of Thy Divine Majesty, in penance for my sins, and to please Thee. I unite the pains and the agony which I must then suffer to the pains and agony which Thou, my Savior, did suffer in Thy Death for me. I accept the death, the time, and the manner, whether suddenly without warning or after a prolonged illness. In everything, I resign myself to Thy Holy Will. Give me strength to suffer all with patience. Thy Death gives me hope! By Thy Most Precious Blood, pardon me all my sins before death comes, and wash away the stains of my guilt.”

Not to ADVANCE is to RETREAT!

Am I ready to die? Have I made the heroic effort necessary to acquire the virtues essential to perfection in this life? Christ commanded me to be perfect as His Heavenly Father is perfect. Do I offer the labors and fatigues of my state in life, all my mortifications and pains of body and soul, in union with the sufferings of my Crucified Savior? In all my anxieties, fears and afflictions, do I seek comfort and consolation at the Foot of the Altar? Is the Sacred Heart of Jesus the object of my most tender love? Do I take time to make reparation for all the outrages suffered by Him in the Adorable Sacrament of the most Holy Altar? Have I a warm, affectionate devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary? Have I unlimited confidence in her, and do I have recourse to her in all my difficulties and spiritual needs? Have I a great love and esteem for the Ten Commandments? Do I fail in them through human respect? Is charity my favorite virtue as it was my Divine Master’s? Do I speak of the faults of others or make rash judgments? Do I blame? Do I murmur? Do I complain? Do I receive humiliations with submission and meekness? Do I cling to my own esteem, prudence and personal views? Do I obey promptly, without delay, discussion or argument? Do I submit equally in that which pleases me and in that which does not? Do I submit myself to all creatures for the love of God? Do I hold my body in esteem as the temple of the Holy Ghost? Do I hold it in honor and refuse to mutilate it, violate its purity, or cremate it? Do I consider myself happy to be called to a life of utter poverty? Am I truly happy to feel its effects in lodging, food, clothing and sickness? Do I trust in God and have no fear of poverty? Do I waste time which is so very precious?

Death is a complete separation of the soul from the body. We will be judged in the room where we die. In that instant of fate, our Eternity is sealed. We can be saints in the daily routine of our lives through Fidelity! In great occasions and in small, let us be faithful. We must die; let us be always prepared! Eternity is long neglected and often forgotten. After millions and millions of years, Eternity remains. Think of Death which is the gate to Eternity! Repent, watch, pray, suffer patiently all evils of this life, and strive courageously for a Happy Eternity.

WE MUST Consider our Rights:

We have a right to humiliations, to be reprimanded, to be disposed of according to God’s Holy Will, to suffer the effects of poverty, to fraternal correction, to be despised and to serve, to the last place, to be looked upon as useless, and to be crucified as was our Savior Jesus Christ!

I pray that you will be successful in thoroughly conquering yourselves in the small daily contradictions which come to you each day. Be faithful in little things, bear your crosses with patience, and you will surely meet with a blessed Eternity. Every day, I remember you and your family at the Sacred Altar. Your intentions, needs and sufferings are given over to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of His Holy Mother. With Mary, you will become capable of a marvelous degree of sanctity and possess unbelievable power over the souls of those you hope to bring to God.

“O most merciful Jesus, Lover of souls, I pray Thee, by the agony of Thy Most Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thine own Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their agony and are to die this day. Amen.”

Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have pity upon the dying!

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Dear Members and Friends,We would like to draw your attention to a beautiful work being done by Mrs. Connie Schneider and her team. They have been working for many long years to develop the Children of The Eucharist, Young Missionaries of The Immaculate Heart of Mary associated with the International World Apostolate of Fatima. Their goal is to lead our youth to have a greater understanding, adoration and love for Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, and to ever increase their love and trust in the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is a program of hope!www.childrenoftheeucharist.org

Annually, the children are asked to gather before the Most Blessed Sacrament and make a Holy Hour of Reparation and Adoration on October 2. Families are in peril and the prayer of children is powerful before the throne of God. Teachers, encourage your students to take part. Parents, go with your children and make the Holy Hour together with them. All who take part will become sensitive to sin and grow in virtue, grace and holiness.

Father Angelo Beda Ison, OFM of Jerusalem will be offering the Sacred Mass in the Holy Land for all who take part in the annual Holy Hour of Reparation and for all who donate in support of this heroic effort to sanctify families and repair for the outrages and blasphemies against the Most Blessed Sacrament and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May an avalanche of Sanctifying Grace pour out over the face of the whole earth! God bless each and every one who will take an active part in this glorious effort to hasten the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

One with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

PATTI MELVIN, Director – ULRA

Dear Mrs. Patti Melvin,I greet you very warmly and lovingly, and apologize for my silence, but you know we continue to be active with the Living Rosary propagation, thanks be to God and to His Holy Mother. On July 30, I received your box of Sacramentals and leaflets in Spanish that you sent to me.

From the picture attached, you will see our members with the St. Philomena statue which is 1 meter tall.

My heart is overflowing with joy at having our Patroness occupy a special place in our church and I had longed for it for many years. We have the privilege of being the first ones in Nicaragua to belong to the Living Rosary Association – our first 7 Rosary groups started in 1996 and we have maintained them.

The Living Rosary is recognized by our Bishop, as a lay group. Fifteen members have gone to their eternal reward and others have left their Catholic religion for different beliefs, and all of them have been replaced by new members. On the third Sunday of each month, a Holy Mass is offered for the intentions of the Living Rosary members and their families.

St. Philomena’s feast is approaching and we always give out to those who attend the festivities something related to her. Last year, you sent us St. Philomena Medals and brochures about her life. The members are very grateful to you for it.

We apologize for asking you to send us the Sacramentals, prayer cards and leaflets without giving a donation but, even if we wanted, we don’t know how to do it and not sure whether it would reach you safely. We would make the donation with much love, even if it is a small amount. We use to ask for 10 Córdobas (Nicaragua’s currency), which is $0.50, but we know that, in the vineyard of the Lord, not all have jobs to give a donation.

We keep you and all who collaborate in the Association, in our prayers. May God and Mamma María protect you and St. Philomena help you! Thank you, Patti, for the attention you pay to our needs. May Our Lord bless you! I will write to you again soon to share about the feast. I am extremely happy because my husband has fallen in love with St. Philomena. Every night, he prays the novena from the leaflet you sent which has her litany composed by the Curé of Ars. Please excuse my letter for not being so neat, I am an elderly person.

Dear Patti Melvin,Sub: TESTIMONY

One Wednesday morning, I was given some money by a lady to prepare food for her friends who were to visit her. The amount was ten thousand Central African Francs (10,000 CFA). I had bought only one item for 1350 Francs and the remaining money was missing. My purse (wallet) fell at a place what the whole town considers being a big venue for all the thieves. I felt so frustrated. I did not have any money anywhere to replace the amount I lost. I decided to stand at a quiet corner of the market and prayed, asking the intercession St. Philomena. It was about 20 minutes later, a boy told me that he saw some boys with an ID card and they said they removed it from a purse they had picked up.

As this boy was explaining to me, another boy just appeared from nowhere and he happened to be one of the boys who had picked up the purse. I asked for the ID card; he removed it from his trouser pocket and gave it to me. He then told me that they had shared the money among themselves. All they could give me was three thousand six hundred and fifty Francs (3,650 CFA). The boy then took me to the place where they had thrown the purse. It was in a big dirt garbage heap. I picked it out and, to my great surprise, I saw the remaining 5,000 Francs notes under the picture of St. Philomena which I always carried in my purse. The boys told me they had emptied the wallet and got only 3,650 Francs. All of us were so amazed that the boys could not see the 5,000 Francs which were under the St. Philomena picture. They all wanted to know who the Saint was and they wanted to have her card. I then had the opportunity to talk to them about Saint Philomena. Thank you very much, St. Philomena!

Saint Philomena, Protectress of the Living Rosary has come to give us:

ARDENT FAITH, PERFECT CHARITY and ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE IN GOD!

HEART OF JESUS, OUR REFUGE AND SOLACE

The Heavens hide their light for grief, and the world is wrapped in darkness. The Heart of Jesus is opened with a lance that there may be formed His only One, His perfect One, His Virgin Spouse: the Holy Church. Jesus willed that His Heart be opened that we might possess in His Heart a permanent place of refuge and solace, where everything necessary and useful to us would be found. The Wound in His Heart is the Door that remains forever open to us through which those who enter will be saved. It is a refuge for mortals and the Paradise of the Blessed.

Gaze upon the Heart of Jesus whose Love is stronger than death and more vigorous than life. All sweetness is there to arouse our faith, strengthen our hope and enkindle our love. Come and immerse thyself in this Ocean of Love. Hasten to this Fountain of Grace, to this gushing Spring of all consolation. In every peril and difficulty, throw thyself confidently upon the Heart of Jesus!

“Christ’s Heart Is Open That ALL May Enter!” Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque

Share Your Gift of Faith

For centuries, our cherished Catholic faith has been passed from person to person, parent to child, etc. Each of us carries in our heart a special memory of how God first graced us with the knowledge of the faith and how Our Blessed Mother, Saint Philomena, Venerable Pauline Jaricot and other saints changed our lives and brought us closer to Christ.

In our work in the Universal Living Rosary Association, we see first hand how millions of souls are currently living without that knowledge of God and are living outside of His grace. We have been given a beautiful opportunity to carry out Christ’s work and pass on our faith and blessings to others who would otherwise never be introduced to Our Lord, the Savior of all mankind. Just as we pray for the souls in Purgatory who have no one to pray for them, we should also make it a part of our life’s mission to pass on our faith to as many souls as possible who have no one else to pass it on to them, who don’t know Our Lord and His promise of salvation.

This is the box we send out to the foreign Missions $77.95. It contains Rosaries, Scapulars, Miraculous Medals, Cord & Oil, Newsletters, Calendars, Catechism books, 2 TAN books, large color prints, lists and encouragements for our Promoters.

Dear Apostles of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
We are eternally grateful for your generous donation which is a huge help for our missionary efforts in the world today. So many are suffering, dying and giving up the fight, feeling they are outnumbered and surrounded. God help us! Our poor efforts, placed in the Heart of Mary, will obtain miraculous results! May God reward you eternally! We remember you each day in our prayers!
Our lives must be filled to overflowing with the spirit of Mary. We must aspire after Her fathomless humility, complete obedience, seraphic sweetness, ceaseless prayer, perfect patience, celestial wisdom, dauntless love of God, and Her faith. Many try to make Catholic doctrine more acceptable to those outside the Church by keeping Mary in the background. We might as well preach Christianity without Christ, as Redemption without Mary. It has been the Will of God that no coming or giving or manifestation of Christ should be without Her. In the spirit of the first days of creation, the voice of God addresses the Serpent in Eden: “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed; She shall crush thy head and thou shalt lie in wait for Her heel.”
Mary alone is set apart as the co-worker of Salvation. Prophet after Prophet foretold of “The Virgin and Child,” the Queen seated at the right Hand of the King. God thought so much of Mary that He willed to make the Redemption of men dependent upon Her free consent to the Angel Gabriel. And the Word was made Flesh! Mary visits her cousin, Elizabeth, and John the Baptist is sanctified in his mother’s womb. Mary exercises for the first time Her unique prerogative as the administrator of the Treasury of Heaven. She is the dispenser of all graces.
The Public Life of Jesus begins at the Wedding Feast at Cana in obedience to the command of Mary to the stewards: “Do what He tells you.” Water is turned into wine. Christ’s Public Life begins. Jesus’ Public Life ends with Mary at the foot of the Cross. “Behold, thy Mother!” For the Sacrifice of Calvary, Mary provided Victim, Priest, Blood and Altar. The work of Redemption began with Mary and was consummated dependently on Mary. Nothing whatever of the magnificent Treasury of Grace which Christ won for us is imparted, except through Her. Mary is the infallible means of winning the world back to Christ!
O Holy Ghost, I offer Thee the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,
His Most Precious Blood; the sorrowful, humble, pure, obedient and Immaculate Heart of Mary, to repair for all my offenses and negligences. I consecrate myself unreservedly to Thee. I place all my trust in Thee. Amen.
One with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Hello Mrs. Patti Melvin,
Sub: The Living Rosary Conferences held in Madurai, India
Greetings in the name of Saint Philomena! My name is Clement Michaelraj, Software Engineer, US Citizen, currently living in my native place, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. When I was in the US, I came to know about Saint Philomena and became a devotee. When I moved to India, I contacted Bro. Joseph Roche, India Animator of the Living Rosary, Chennai, who conducted the Living Rosary conferences for the last 20 years successfully in India and has enrolled thousands and thousands of people into the Living Rosary.
My native place and surrounding villages do not know about Saint Philomena. I invited Brothers Rodriguez and Ruben who are promoters of the Living Rosary in Chennai to hold the conferences in my city. They eagerly agreed and conducted three conferences so far, which were a success. We never heard these messages anywhere before. Their messages include reparation, motivation on family values, Fatima Message, Purgatory, dress code, Saint Philomena’s life history and sculpture, etc. After each conference, I heard the people congratulating these brothers for the messages they delivered.
The Living Rosary Conferences were held on the following days:
On May 31 from 10 am to 5 pm: Fr. Antony Rajan, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church welcomed the gathering of 320 parishioners, and we enrolled 100 members.
On July 18 (5 pm to 9 pm) and July 19 (9 am to 2 pm): My cousin brother, Fr. Jai Joseph, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Church welcomed the gathering of 230 parishioners, and 95 enrolled in the Living Rosary.
On August 9 (9 am to 4 pm): Fr. Edwin Raja, Parish Priest of Saint Joseph Church welcomed the gathering of 300 parishioners, and 120 enrolled in the Living Rosary.
My hearty congratulations to these two brothers! We are blessed to have them in India, conducting spiritual meetings. God will bless them abundantly.
We will certainly conduct many more Living Rosary conferences in my place. Attached are some of the pictures.
We request you to pray for us that we may conduct more conferences in our Tamilnadu State and other States, and enroll many more people into Living Rosary.
Thanks to the ULRA for bringing our Blessed Mother Mary’s Message to the people of India.
Regards,
Clement Michaelraj

Dear Patti,
Thank you so much for sending me St. Filomena’s devotional items! I could not believe that you sent me other items which I never expected (such as the Italian booklet)! I want to share this devotion to my friends and family, and persuade them that this little Saint is powerful with God!
The package that you sent arrived on the 4th of August (Saint Jean Marie Vianney!) but I took the items to my parish on the 7th of August (and we know that Friday is Saint Philomena’s martyrdom!).
Thank you for your personal letter that you sent to me. I appreciated so much your words full of love and hope. Less than a month, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and I heard of this disease the day after I wrote the email to you.
I pray every day my assigned Decade and this little Virgin will help me to stay strong. I bless the day that I discovered this Saint and your hard but beautiful work. I always pray for you, for your intentions and for the URLA. God bless you all!
As promised, here are the photos taken at the Church of St. Philip the Apostle in Syracuse with a painting of Santa Filomena.
Immaculate Heart of Mary will be our refuge!

WHO IS THE PRIEST?
At the very center of the crowd is a person often not recognized, (St. Matt. 3:11 – but He whose sandals I am not worthy to bear – St. John the Baptist to the people of Israel). This reproach of Christians is as valid today as it was in the time of Christ for so many lack the most basic respect for the priesthood. How many people recognize his mission, see his sufferings and respect the dignity of his office? They are unmindful of what Christ has told us: “He who hears you, hears Me, and he who persecutes you persecutes Me.”
The priest is the most essential person and deeply needed by all humanity. Only he can truly echo the words of Our Blessed Lord, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” (St. John 14:6)
We must work diligently to properly prize this person who is with us from our birth to our death, in our moments of joy and our moments of suffering; all the key moments of our lives, he is there. God has given him the keys of this earth and, most importantly, the keys of Heaven. The priest is a servant of God, a victim soul. He sacrifices himself for the salvation of souls. Every priest is another Christ!
The priesthood was instituted in Jerusalem on Maundy Thursday night, when Christ gave His Apostles the Holy Eucharist which would be offered until the end of time. The priesthood continues through His words at each Holy Mass: “Do this in commemoration of Me.” Through this pronouncement, He confirmed the priesthood on His Apostles and gave them the power to forgive sins. “Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven; whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.” (St. John 20:23)
On the Mount of Olives, Jesus had given them the power to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, to forgive sins, to baptize and to preach justice to all humanity. On the day of His Ascension into Heaven, the Apostles awaited the signal from God to begin their mission upon earth.
THE HOLY PRIESTHOOD
The priest has been given the power to continue the work of our Redemption which is confirmed by the Son of God. He has the special charism of teaching, just as Christ was the infallible Teacher of the Truths of our Catholic Faith, which give light to every soul born into this world. He has the charge to direct us to Heaven.
In the power of his office of duty, the priest feeds souls with the sacred nourishment of supernatural Grace given in the Holy Eucharist. The priest, today, continues the mission and office of the first Apostles. The priests and bishops united together form the Hierarchy of the Church. The Holy Father is the Vicar of Christ upon earth. St. Peter was the first Pope appointed by Christ Himself. His power to rule extends over all bishops, priests, lay apostles and members of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Bishops are appointed by the Pope and they, in turn, choose the parish priests in their diocese. The bishop is the administrator of the parishes in his diocese.

August 2015
Dear Apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Your loving support of our missionary efforts is a far-reaching star of hope for the world. We have had so many special notes from religious and faithful, sharing news of their struggles, efforts and challenges in spreading devotion to Our Blessed Mother. When they reveal what they really face in doing this work, it is very humbling for us.

When America is under Siege, and it will come, we beg God that we will have the courage and faith of the suffering missionaries we help today in foreign lands. Always, your dear family is remembered each and every day in our prayers!

The supreme need of the day is to bring home to every Catholic that, upon him, rests the positive duty of going out and seeking those in need of conversion and bringing them into the Faith. The Church is a Society in which Jesus Christ lives and which exists for the purpose of bringing Christ to all men. If the Church is not living this mission, it is untrue to Itself. Christ never intended His Church to be a mere chaplaincy. The primary purpose of the Church’s action is the winning of converts. It is our bound duty to bring the Faith to everyone, without exception. If this is not done, we have a deadly inertia.

Today, it is argued: We must not unsettle anyone, they are in good faith or we must respect the beliefs of others. What can this mean, only that we are trying to convert no one but he who converts himself?

Inaction works havoc in the Church. Its mission is dampened and perverted. The Infinite Ocean of Grace which is meant to irrigate the universal desert of unbelief dries up. Our prayer alone does not suffice. Action must follow! If the maximum effort is forthcoming, then Grace will follow: over-flowing, conquering and miraculously winning souls for Christ. We must not pre-judge those we approach. Our job is to reach out and seek all. Even when we think our efforts are vain, worthless and barren, we are to make them. We are commanded to preach the Gospel to every creature. We must cast our nets regardless of what might be brought up, big or little, good or bad. In doing this, we are obedient stewards. The Life of Christ was one of confident strength. May He act in us to draw all souls to Himself through the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

Without Mary, all our thoughts, efforts, planning and hard work will only end in sterility. With Mary, every effort will bring forth eternal fruit!

Of Mary, there can never be enough!

One with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

PATTI MELVIN, Director – ULRA

Let us pray for one another.

AFZAAL reaching out to souls in Pakistan – July 2015:

Many are the challenges Afzaal faces in his apostolic work in Pakistan. Not only Catholics, but also all Christians suffer equally. In Gojra, the homes of many Christians were set on fire; this was repeated in Kharian, and again repeated in Joseph Colony in Lahore. A couple was burned alive in Clarkabad where it was claimed they violated the blasphemy law. Many Christians are condemned of blasphemy and, without court proceedings or trial, they are put to death. Daily, women are forced to accept Islam and marry, others are raped. Some escape to seek asylum in America, Australia and Europe. There is a target list containing many personalities and Afzaal, too, is on their list.

Anti-Catholic pastors are growing like grass. They are being funded by foreign countries. They may not be educated or suited for religious work. Within a year or two, they are ordained and some are consecrated bishops. Their pastoral authority includes the whole of Pakistan, not just one particular diocese. The best liked are those who speak against Baptism and Our Blessed Mother. In Afzaal’s area of Faisalabad, there are more than 15 bishops! These pastors seek out those with Rosaries and Miraculous Medals, and explain many false things about them.

Besides the obstacles outside the Catholic Church, internal problems are many. Years ago, priests from foreign countries evangelized the people teaching the dogma and doctrine of the Catholic Faith, living heroic lives of devotion and sanctity. Many suffered martyrdom. Now, local priests have turned things up-side-down. They seek only money. They come from poor families but, when ordained, their lives are changed. They have large homes, drive fancy cars and love to show off. Many drink heavily and have relations with women on the side. Some seek out Afzaal and beg him for Sacramentals promising to use them well and spread the devotion. Sadly, they sell them and use the profit for their own personal gain. When the people see their priest act in this way, they share with Afzaal their grief and seek his counsel if they should leave the priest and even the Church.

Afzaal has sacrificed his life, family and health to bring to souls the truths of our Holy Faith, supply them with Sacramentals free of charge, teaching them devotion to Our Lady and enrolling hundreds of thousands in the Living Rosary. He has translated and printed all of our materials in their native language, Urdu. Travel is grueling, accommodation is poor, and the danger is great! Your support of the Living Rosary mission in Pakistan has brought forth a rich harvest of souls. May God reward you eternally!

Dear Patti,

I am glad to inform you that we celebrated the feast of St. Philomena successfully. Our Bishop and 6 priests offered the Mass. About 150 faithful attended. I gave breakfast to all. We held the annual meeting and elected new E.C. members. We decided not to hold our Conference this year, because our Chin State and our diocese seriously suffered from flood water. I will send you a report on our activities when the internet is available. God bless you! Best regards to all your co-workers.

Dear Patti,

Guess what? I informed you earlier that I moved temporarily out of the Capital (Windhoek) and now residing in one of the remotest areas of the country in a place called Opuwo. This January, I met a devoted Catholic lady who joined one of my talks while on holiday. She works in Opuwo. When she returned to her work, she shared with others and inspired them on her new faith discovery. The Bible says: "My thoughts are not yours and My ways not your ways." In five months’ time I found myself also in Opuwo. Because of the changing of lives in Santa Philomena's Association, I found myself feeling uneasy when I moved in the country, because as much as I would like the people to put their joy and gratitude emphasis on Blessed Mother Mary and Santa Philomena, I found people eagerly wanting to see and meet the Sr. Uutoni, who announced and organized the Association in Namibia. This caused me always not to want to identify myself at once. Meanwhile, as much as I wish to be in the background, people always find me out. Like yesterday, I was forced to speak to the new members after a month in this place. I must admit that I am overwhelmed by what I saw. There was a big number, both old and young, which made me happy. I am sure they will announce it to others and the group will grow. Among them, there was a Peace Corps Volunteer from the USA. Amazing, he shared with me that he was not aware of this great evangelical Association in Texas part of his native land.

I thank and praise God Who made things possible for all of Mary's children to meet and pray in this way. Once more, thank you for making our mission easier in this part of the world. All our members are praying for you and for our benefactors. Remain blessed always.

Sister Margaret Uutoni – NAMIBIA.

We have been given a beautiful opportunity to carry out Christ's work and pass on our faith and blessings to others who would otherwise never be introduced to Our Lord, the Savior of all mankind. Just as we pray for the souls in Purgatory who have no one to pray for them, we should also make it a part of our life's mission to pass on our faith to as many souls as possible who have no one else to pass it on to them, who don't know Our Lord and His promise of salvation.

This is the box we send out to the foreign Missions $77.95. It contains Rosaries, Scapulars, Miraculous Medals, Cord & Oil, Newsletters, Calendars, Catechism books, 2 TAN books, large color prints, lists and encouragements for our Promoters.

Weekly News Flash from the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena, Wednesday August 12, 2015

August 25th, 2015

Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Dear Apostles and Benefactors of the Living Rosary,

During the month of August, we are especially remembering your families at the Holy Altar. The family is the primary target of the demon in the world today. Our poor youth are besieged by a huge array of things which bring sin and sorrow into their lives and alienate them from God and Family. In most cases, both parents are working. Our times are much like those in which Ven. Pauline Jaricot lived. We must consecrate our lives to Mary, imitate her virtues and go forth united to kindle everywhere the fire of Divine Love: to enlighten those in darkness and in the shadow of death, inflame those who have grown lukewarm, and bring back to life those who are dead in sin.

The world has lost Christ and He must be brought back to the world. In our private lives, self-gratification has supplanted the love of God and one’s neighbor. The goal of industry is not to supply the needs of the individual, but to make a profit. In an Age of plenty, multitudes all over the world are in danger of starvation. We hear far too much about rights and far too little about duties. I need not go on. You know the devastation of contraception, divorce, euthanasia and, now, same sex unions.

One cannot be apathetic in the face of this tidal wave of sacrilege. Every member of the Church must be an apostle! The most necessary thing at the present time is to have groups of laymen, virtuous, enlightened and really apostolic. Many today feel no responsibility for souls at large. They ask, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” YES, YOU ARE! It is not enough to just pray for him. Your prayer must be accompanied by action. Go to him, reach out and embrace him with the Divine Presence which dwells within you. Essential to your work for souls is Mary. Our Lady is part of the principle of fruitfulness. Our Blessed Lord does not choose to be fruitful of Himself; He insists on her action as the condition of His entry into souls. Without Mary, our greatest efforts and strivings will end in sterility! With Mary, every effort brings forth eternal fruit. The Church is made up of its members, and can only stand or fall in them. It follows that, from each individual member, the Church requires responsibility and full cooperation in Its work. The Living Rosary is a beautiful example of this dynamic action of the Breath of the Holy Ghost within the Church. We rejoice with our part in this life-giving Breath which flows between our members throughout the whole world.

Your great compassion and love for the Church Suffering gives all of us courage and hope. We must know our Catholic Faith, cling to It, preserve It, defend It, promote It, love It and be very attached to It. We place your daily needs: spiritual, physical and material on the Altar of God. In doing this, may our mission in the bosom of Holy Mother the Church be strengthened and completed.

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

+ In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Dear Mrs. Melvin,

Pax Christi!

Your second shipment of religious articles and pamphlets in Sesotho was very well received by our faithful in Lesotho after Mass on Sunday, July 26. There were about 50 to 60 faithful at Mass, which was larger than the number in the previous month. Children were kneeling very close to the Altar, leaving a bare minimum of room for the priest and Altar boy. Not everyone could fit into the little house, or hut with its thatched roof, so some children had to attend by listening to the Mass outside the door of the house.

Perhaps, the pamphlets that you sent the previous month brought more souls to Mass this month. Word certainly had gotten around the village as we were asked for devotional items even by those who did not come for Mass. This time, the faithful specifically asked for more St. Philomena prayer cards, so I am glad that you sent them as well. You sent such a good supply of the pamphlets and Rosaries that we still have some left to give away during our next visit in October.

A priest in South Africa who often celebrates the traditional Mass told us that the diocese accidentally reprinted a prayer book in Sesotho which contains the Mass in Latin. We went to the publishing house and bought thirty copies with beautiful drawings and old devotions. It was first printed in 1931 by the French missionaries. We also bought the five catechisms which were reprints of a good old edition.
The most impressive event, while we were in the village, was a sick call to an 18 year old boy who has been sick for two or three years. He could not even stretch out his arms fully. He went to a public hospital and, instead of an operation, he received a wheelchair. The faithful wished to come with me and so an older lady, a few young men and many children formed a crowd with me that walked through the scattered small stone houses, which I had never seen before. It reminded me of the crowds that escorted Our Lord. I gave a blessing for the sick boy and, then, one of the faithful handed me one of the Scapulars that I had handed out on the day before, asking me to give it to the boy. I had to instruct the boy about the meaning and history of the Scapular and he wished to receive it. Since I did not bring the correct prayer, I asked a 16 year old boy to run to get it from the make-shift chapel, where we stayed. Meanwhile, the faithful prayed three decades of the Rosary for the sick boy, which moved him to small tears which he repeatedly brushed off his eyes while in bed. The prayer book arrived and then I enrolled him in the Brown Scapular. Then, the faithful began to sing a hymn to Our Lady in Sesotho as we left the very small room for so many people. The boy’s mother thanked me as I left. So your Scapulars are given to some good souls; this one to a boy who has never been seen at the chapel, though his father came for the first time on Sunday.

The faithful ask us each time to build them a chapel, as the local parish is five kilometers away. The older parishioners say that they wish to continue to attend the Latin Mass as they did in their youth. A chapel would not be expensive to build as they use their local materials of cut stone for the walls, long grass from the fields for the thatched roofs, and mud mixed with fresh cow dung to seal the outside of the walls with a brown plaster surface. We hope to be able to do this for them in time, so until then we ask the great Saint Philomena to make this possible for these simple Catholics in Lesotho one day.

Thank you again for your valuable support in sending especially the pamphlets on the Rosary, Brown Scapular, Miraculous Medal, and St. Michael medals. There were many hands outstretched eager to receive each of these. May God bless you and all who help put together all of these devotional items!

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Please Father Ivan,

Pray for the Conversion of my Loved One!
Pray that my Children will return to the Sacraments!
Pray that our Grandbabies will be Baptized!

Progress is the watchword of our modern Day. Progress should be likewise the watchword of our spiritual advancement: progress in making use of the means of Salvation God has given us for these perilous times. Our families are plagued with opportunities for sin, which are innumerable and divisive. Dangers, which are so incredibly menacing, attractive and enticing, surround us on every side. We cannot overcome them by our own power. Without God’s help, we will drown in the mire. Witchcraft and Satanism abound, drugs and alcohol, pornography and nudity have found their way into our schools and homes.

We have been deceived by the devil. Setting our hopes on material comforts, possessions and future security, we have forfeited family, faith and eternal beatitude. How can we best appeal to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary? How can we attain the salvation of our families? How can we help those who have lost the faith and abandoned themselves to this vacuum of greed, pride and hate?

Our Lady of Fatima came to bring peace to the world. The foundation of Peace is the possession of Grace. Man must cease offending God. Sanctifying Grace is the Life of God Himself imparted to the soul, whereby man is raised to a supernatural level and becomes a friend and child of God, and an heir to Heaven. The presence or absence of Sanctifying Grace in our souls, at the moment of death, will decide our eternal salvation or damnation. Through the Sacrament of Confession, all is gained and saved, and the repentant sinner is restored to the friendship of God. Washed in the Precious Blood of the Lamb of God, he receives the source of life, the medicine of salvation, the fount of healing and the beginning of all that is good. There is no more effectual means of preservation from the dangers and temptations which beset our families, than frequent union with Our Lord in Holy Communion. Misled by false teachers, many have given up the Faith, Love and Hope of Christ. We must turn back to God by whom we are loved so very much. When man restores God to the temple of his soul, Mary will reward the world with a lasting peace.

Thirty one days of Sacred Liturgies will be offered by Father Ivan Kolodiy in the Ukraine during the month of August for our loved ones who have fallen away from the Sacraments, for grandchildren who need to receive Baptism, and for the conversion of those you entrust to God. The names of those enrolled will be placed on the Altar during the entire month of August.

SUGGESTED STIPEND DONATION: $ 5.00 each for Enrollment in the thirty one days of Sacred Liturgies for your Loved Ones: PRINT VERY CLEARLY EACH NAME!

SAINT PHILOMENA, PROTECTRESS OF THE LIVING ROSARY AND THE CHILDREN OF MARY

“My Children, Saint Philomena has great power with God!” St. Jean Marie Vianney

It is written of Divine Providence, not only does it arrange the means, but it reaches the goal. Gentleness is remarkable in the former and strength of character in the latter. St. Philomena received from Jesus Christ in the heights of Heaven, her mission. It seems the King of Kings to Whom all power is given from the Father, distinguished her in the midst of the assembly of Saints by a particular satisfaction and preferential love. “Go, I have chosen you and wish to place you in the fields of My Church like a new sowing, destined to make It productive. You will bring to Me the fruits which My Hand prepares for you; may your firmness augment for Me, your savor.”

Ah, Christ, Our Savior, wishes to use the glorious St. Philomena to console us, to instruct us and to encourage us. She will be our Anchor of Hope in this Age of Darkness. We need her in these unhappy times to which the words of St. John apply so well: “My dear children, we have come to the last hour. You have been told that the anti-Christ is neigh, or there are a great number of anti-Christs in the world. This is why we affirm that the last hour has tolled. Preserve your doctrine, my children, which was taught to you from the beginning. It will keep you constantly united with the Father and the Son. The anti-Christs will conspire with such malice, audacity and slander that, not only in the cities but even in the hamlets, his reign will infest you with a disgusting poison and impious vomit. False prophets will spring up, God’s laws will fall to scorn, souls will be gorged with silver and gold, sanctuaries will be profaned. Fathers and mothers will be insulted by their children, marriages torn asunder, and incest will stain all classes.

Divine Wisdom cries out: “Have Faith! It is I Who permit these fearful winds and storms. Have Confidence! It is I Who permit the tides to rise. I will come at the moment you need Me. If I must move the heavens and the earth to make you triumph over your enemies, I will do it! Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will enter into My glory.” In falling under the tyrant’s sword, Philomena was victorious. She received an immortal crown and was placed upon a throne in eternity. Her reign will have no end!

PEACE BE TO YOU, PHILOMENA!

Pauline-Marie Jaricot was born at Lyon on July 22, 1799, to a profoundly religious family of silk merchants. Her life was spent at the feet of Our Lady of Fourviere. Her entire life was given completely to God and to Holy Mother the Church through the glory of the Cross. We know her universally as the foundress of the Propagation of the Faith, but she was so much more than that. Pauline founded many other works for the Church, remarkable for their diversity and copiously fertile propagation. At heart, Pauline was a contemplative, a very great one indeed! Her union with God was the source and secret of her influence upon souls.

The greatest miracle of St. Philomena took place before the Holy Father’s eyes. Pauline Jaricot, sick and very near death, visited him before her journey to Mugnano. Immediately upon her return from Mugnano, she visited him again and was the picture of health.

While Pauline remained present in Rome for over a year, the Office, Mass Common and Fourth Lesson proper to a double minor rite were given to Philomena. Pope Gregory XVI waited three years to follow the movement of devotion to St. Philomena and to be certain of the miracles reported.

It was Pope Gregory XVI who gave the Living Rosary its blessed Patroness, “Now, all the Living Rosary is under the protection of St. Philomena! Pray to St. Philomena, whatever you ask of her, she will obtain for you.”

Pope Gregory XVI passed away in 1846 and Pius IX, his successor, who had been cured by St. Philomena of the condition of epilepsy, was able to ascend the throne of St. Peter. He did not forget his “little Saint” and it was at the altar of St. Philomena, he promised to resist iniquity until his death. Pope Pius IX proclaimed St. Philomena secondary Patroness of the kingdom of Naples. On July 6, 1853, the Office and Mass composed according to liturgical regulations was accepted. One would never be able to say the decisions of the Holy See concerning devotion to St. Philomena had been ill-advised. Pope Pius IX was the Pope to proclaim the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception! As a last act of homage, the Holy Father sent His chalice to Mugnano as a sign of gratitude and to grace the resting place of his heavenly benefactress. It was Pope Pius the IX who placed all of the Children of Mary under the patronage of St. Philomena. On the property of Pauline Jaricot in France, today, is a beautiful chapel entirely dedicated to St. Philomena. Not only do pilgrims visit this chapel but the bishop offers Holy Mass there once a month.

In 1878, Pope Leo XIII mounted the pontifical throne which he was to occupy for 25 years. Leo willingly approved of the red and white cord in honor of the virgin and martyr, and he embellished this devotion with rich indulgences. He granted the title and privilege of Archconfraternity to St. Philomena’s devotion.

Pope Saint Pius X, elected in 1903 had a great desire to beatify the Curé of Ars whose name is closely bound to the glory and name of St. Philomena. On August 8, Pius X participated in the festivities of St. Philomena by sending a gold ring to the reigning Princess of Mugnano. He was so saddened to hear what was being written about her at that time. How can such writings be possible! Horacio Marucchi denied her very existence. Pope Pius X spoke at length on this Wonder-Worker of the 20th Century stating: “… to discredit the present writings concerning St. Philomena as not being permanent, stable, valid and effective, necessary of obedience, and in full effect for all eternity, proceeds from an element that is null and void and without merit or authority.” St. Pius X

St. Peter Julian Eymard, personal friend and confidant of Ven. Pauline Jaricot, was cured of a grave infirmity by St. Philomena and was then able to go forward amidst persecution and setbacks to found the noble order of the Adoration Fathers of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

After visiting the house of Venerable Pauline Jaricot, the holy Curè of Ars took St. Philomena for his own. Pauline gave him a relic of the dear saint which he housed in a special chapel at Ars built in her honor. She was his little saint and did everything for him. He, in turn, sent everyone to her altar, that she might give them light, hope and joy. The healing of bodies at Ars seemed to be reserved to the Little Saint.

It was behind St. Philomena’s glory that St. Jean-Marie Vianney hid his own. For 18 hours a day in the summer time and eleven during the colder months, the Curé was bound to his Confessional as to Calvary. All of the penitents having seen and heard the Curé, left with the seeds of salvation planted in their souls. Certainly, it was the wonders of conversion that most often occurred in Our Lady’s chapel at Ars. St. Jean Marie Vianney had the gift of reading souls. He knew what was in their hearts and could tell them – when, where and how their lives had been led and what must be done to obtain peace from God. Father Vianney’s strength had been sustained beyond human provision. His scant sleep at night, diet of cold moldy potatoes and the many penances he imposed on himself, had left him no more than an “armful of bones covered with skin.” Moreover, he was no stranger to illness: he had abdominal pains and constant headaches, and to these miseries were added other painful infirmities. The devil gave him no rest. Even so, he remained smiling, active, always exhausted, but ever ready to labor for souls. One day, however, he was forced to stop. It was around May of 1843. All alone in a crushing ministry, with the number of pilgrims flocking to Ars ever increasing, doing his best to “make his corpse gallop,” he was unable to go on. Bedridden despite himself, he was soon at death’s door and began his preparation for death. Four doctors were in attendance of him “watching him die.” His confessor was called in to administer the Last Sacrament.

After receiving Extreme Unction, he made a vow to Saint Philomena. He promised to have always a large candle burning in her honor and to have 100 Masses offered in her honor. The first Mass was offered at once by Father Dubouis, the pastor of Fareins, in the chapel at Ars. Jean Pertinand, who was with the dying Curé, as the Mass was being offered, related, “The Mass was scarcely over when he exclaimed, ‘My friend, a great change has come over me. I am healed!’ I heard him murmur the name of his dear protectress several times and believe that Saint Philomena appeared to him.”

In return for so many benefits, known and unknown, the Curé of Ars showed every mark of gratitude to his “Beloved”. The Roman Breviary declares, “He inspired souls with a tender piety toward the blessed Philomena.” He cherished a plan to have a splendid shrine built in her honor, but only death prevented him from fulfilling this plan. In his last days with trembling hand, amid the tears and sobs of all, he wrote these lines:

“I will pray to God for those who help me build a beautiful church to Saint Philomena.”
(Jean MB Vianney, Curé d'Ars – April 2, 1859)

After reading his life, writings and the miracles that took place at Ars, no one can deny that he alone, Jean-Marie-Baptiste Vianney, had done as much, if not more, for the glory of St. Philomena than all others combined. During his life, he honored her constantly and loved her deeply, and she him. Without leaving his poor, obscure church, he had made the young virgin of the catacombs known and loved all over the world. Far more than this, he himself had become a living, tangible proof of the existence and sanctity of the child saint. Who would ever dare to pretend that a miracle-worker, a sage, a Saint like the Curé of Ars, who is now declared the Patron Saint of all Priests in the world, lived an illusion!!! That a man who read the secrets of hearts would not have discovered this error, this falsehood, in his own heart? He proved himself to be a man of total truthfulness and heroic in the virtue of prudence. Would such a man, believing in purely imaginary visions himself, have engaged millions of souls to pray to a virgin-martyr unworthy of the name?

“The great argument in favor of devotion to Saint Philomena is the Venerable Curé of Ars.” (St. Pius X)

It is written in the declaration of canonization of St. Jean-Marie Vianney that he should be imitated in all his spirituality. How could one follow this directive without including a tender devotion to the Saint, whom he loved and honored in a singular way throughout the long years he lived as a holocaust for souls?

“O Powerful Saint Philomena, ‘Guardian Angel’ of the Living Rosary Association,
obtain for us the Gifts of the Holy Ghost in order that we may be given the light
to know the Will of God, the science of loving Him, the wisdom of discerning
what pleases and displeases Him, the fear of saddening Him,
and the strength to obey Him.”

Venerable Pauline Jaricot, Foundress of the Living Rosary

GLORY BE TO JESUS CHRIST!

We welcome with joy your requests for Holy Masses. It is our privilege to remember you at the Altar. When offering the Sacred Liturgy, we realize that we are going to perform an action which is the most holy and divine, the greatest and most important, the highest and most sublime action that can be performed in Heaven or on Earth. It must be performed with divine intentions and dispositions, with great care and attention of mind, body and soul. In union with Jesus Christ Himself, the Holy Sacrifice is offered for your family in the ancient Byzantine Rite which is preserved unchanged in Ukraine.

Please offer the Triune God a home in your heart. It must be His own undivided property, consecrated and set aside for Him. He must be your ALL – not merely a guest, stranger or passing visitor. We ask Our Eucharistic King to take full possession of us and to live His Life within us. O my Loving God, You decide, arrange and settle everything in my life Yourself, so that You will be loved tenderly and intensely.

Do ask God to help you to become His pure instrument and to direct everything in your life. Mary offered her whole self to the Eucharistic God, for perfect love makes no condition or reservation. At Holy Mass, we unite with Mary to prepare our soul for the angelic duty of adoration.

May the Precious Blood of Jesus strengthen you and prepare you for the sacrifices, suffering and death which await each one. Be at peace! Trust Him with all your heart! With God’s blessing, prayers and respect,

I remain your servant at the Holy Altar, Fr. IVAN KOLODIJ

For over 60 years, the Eastern Catholic Church in the USA and
Canada has had steadily growing numbers of members. Their liturgical rites may appear strange and unfamiliar, their ecclesiastical discipline different. These Catholics are loyal members of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The majority of these Catholics in the recent past have undergone the most bloody persecution history has ever known. The bishops, priests and faithful belonging to this group within the Church have sealed their loyalty to the Rock of Peter with the heroic sacrifice of their lives. For them, to die for the Church is sweeter and more gratifying than to live outside of Her in spiritual and mental slavery. These Catholics belong to various Eastern Rites, the largest of which is the Byzantine Rite. This is the Rite in which our beloved Father Ivan Kolodij is ordained.

I want to share with you our progress in spreading the Living Rosary Association in the territories of Eastern and Western Europe. During the last five months, the Living Rosary in Ukraine established 50 new groups, and more people are joining our wonderful organization every day. Many people feel the terrible depression and financial difficulties now, when countries are in deep economical crisis. People have lost their trust in money and are calling to join the Living Rosary and receive spiritual and psychological support and care. Many people who lost a lot of money are humbled. They say to the priests of the Living Rosary that, without the spiritual support which the LR provides, their lives would be destroyed. Many priests in Ukraine who did not pay attention to the power of the LR when they established the prayer groups in their parishes, now see that the members are taking care of the churches, washing vestments, helping the priests and religious to run the parish works. Many of them are involved in the charitable aid to the poor members of the parishes. Many members of the Living Rosary run the counseling mission to the youth and freely distribute the books, newspaper and prayer cards to them. People who don’t have any financial means, receive our help with materials. Recently, the Living Rosary established new groups in Genova, Barcelona, Napoli and Perudjia. People call our Center and ask us to pray for them and to help them in these difficult times which bring them a lot of stress and tribulations.

Every weekend, pilgrim groups of the Living Rosary members come to Lviv to receive instructions and spiritual formation. The Ukrainian people have very strong devotion to pilgrimages. During the Spring and Summer, our Center sends envoys with materials for free distribution to the pilgrims. After every pilgrimage, we receives a lot of phone calls and ‘SMS’ messages in which people say that the advices and information which they got from the newspaper, The Voice of the Living Rosary, help them to become better Christians.

The Living Rosary in Ukraine has begun to distribute a 200-page book about the Virgin Mary which is titled, “Our Heavenly Mother.” Also, with the help of the Living Rosary, International Center in Dickinson, Texas, our Center gives some vital support to sick priests through Mass stipends. We can do all such things because you, our dear benefactors and members, help us. By your generosity, we are able to speed up the mission efforts to reach all souls.

Besides remembering you at the Holy Altar, during the month of June, we pray the Litany of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus for all your needs and intentions.

Dear Associates,

It is with great joy and oceans of gratitude that we join together now to celebrate the glorious Feast of our Patroness and Protectress, Saint Philomena. This great Saint was given to us by Pope Gregory XVI as our "Guardian Angel!" It is very fitting that we express to her our love and our confidence on her Feast Day. Her double patronage this month makes the celebration so much more endearing to us. St. Philomena was named the Patroness of the Children of Mary by Pope Pius IX.

“Have full confidence in this great Saint;
She will obtain for you all that you ask.”

Ven. Pauline Jaricot

Saint Philomena, Protectress of the Living Rosary has come to give us: Ardent Faith, Perfect Charity and Absolute Confidence in God!

PATTI MELVIN, ULRA – Director

Prayer to Saint Philomena

Hail, O holy St. Philomena, whom God glorifies by so many miracles, whom the Vicar of Jesus Christ has named the Protectress of the Living Rosary and the Children of Mary, manifest more and more plainly from the heights of Heaven, that a voice holy as thine cannot be denied and that we have the right to rely upon thine aid. Obtain for us the grace to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, even unto death. Amen.

Dear Apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Thank you profoundly for your generous donation in support of our missionary efforts throughout the world. We are focusing on America, too. Our poor country is losing its footing and the Church and families suffer greatly. We will remember you in our prayers and we have also enrolled your family in a Novena of Sacred Masses being offered in the Holy Land this month. We beg the Holy Ghost to give you courage and joy in bearing the crosses that you have been asked to carry.

The Holy Ghost is our greatest Friend, the Light of our souls, invincible Fortitude, essential Purity, the supreme Consoler, most sweet and tender Delight of our life, and the Font of holiness; the Heavenly Breath that animates the soul and gives it life, the pure Dew that refreshes the heart in its aridity, He who gives courage to the soul as it struggles, raises it up after it falls, sustains it in all its trials and lifts it up above the things of this earth! The Holy Ghost is our Light, Warmth, Life and our All!

O Loving Fire, ever burning yet never consumed, destroy our imperfections and set our souls on fire with Thy Love! Make our souls fruitful and give us a tender love of the Cross. Thou art our happiness, our hope, our glory! Teach us to love sorrow, burn with thirst for sacrifice, protect us and give us Thy Gifts, Thy Fruits and every virtue. Precious Treasure of our souls, fathomless Sea of Goodness, most tender and sweet Consoler, with all our hearts we adore and praise Thee. Grant us in union with the Divine Word, the salvation of millions of souls. May the Works of the Cross triumph! May Thy Missionaries be multiplied for the greater Honor and Glory of God! Grant us the Grace to triumph over our vices, destroy our self-love, and live only for the service God and our neighbor. May our souls glow with the flames of heavenly charity until death and forever.

If we listen closely at times, we can hear the beating of our heart, “Lub-dub, Lub-dub, Lub-dud” … “Love you, Love you, Love you!” It is the Breath of Life, the Holy Ghost, whispering constantly of His Love for us. If we but understood His Love for us, our hearts would be on fire with love for Him!

One with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

PATTI MELVIN, Director – Universal Living Rosary Association

Let us pray for one another.

—–

O Holy Spirit of God, take me as Thy disciple: Guide me, illuminate me, sanctify me! Bind my hands that they may do no evil; cover my eyes that they may see it no more; sanctify my heart that evil may not dwell within me. Be Thou my God; be Thou my Guide. Withersoever Thou leadest me, I will go; whatsoever Thou forbiddest me, I will renounce; and whatsoever Thou commandest me in Thy strength, I will do. Lead me, then, unto the fullness of Thy Truth. Amen.

Dear Mrs. Melvin,

How are you and all the Christian faithful? I hope the name of the Lord is glorified every moment. Here all is well, except a few pastoral challenges which are stepping stones to the successful service to the people around us. I write to thank you for the banners and other spiritual items which you sent us. I am so glad to report that the things you sent are now safe in our hands. Rest assured that these will increase the momentum of our Living Rosary groups. Let me express my fervent gratitude to you for your every effort in helping us to come closer to God through Mary, Our Mother. Upon receiving the banners and other spiritual items, I called for a gathering and, through the display of the banners, I taught the members more about St. Philomena and Our Blessed Mother. They were so much interested and their attendance is increasing at every meeting.

Attached are the photos during that gathering. I was in my cassock teaching them.

Be blessed Mrs. Melvin

God will reward you abundantly.

THE BEAUTIFUL HANDS OF A PRIEST

We need them in life's early morning; we need them again at its close;

We feel their warm clasp of true friendship; we seek them when tasting life's woes.

At the Altar each day we behold them, and the hands of a king on his throne

Are not equal to them in their greatness, their dignity stands all alone;

And when we are tempted and wander to pathways of shame and of sin,

It's the hand of a priest that will absolve us not once, but again and again;

And when we are taking life's partner, other hands may prepare us a feast,

But the hand that will bless and unite us is the beautiful hand of a priest.

God bless them and keep them all holy for the Host which their fingers caress;

When can a poor sinner do better than to ask him to guide thee and bless?

When the hour of death comes upon us, may our courage and strength be increased.

By seeing raised over us in blessing, the beautiful hands of a priest!

Dearest Patti,

It is my pleasure to send you a list of new members and to inform that our Annual ULRA Conference is gradually approaching. It will take place from 23rd to 25th October. At this Conference, we are expecting some of the ULRA members from Zambia to attend as part of networking between our neighboring ULRA members.

I was alerted to request enough Scapulars for new members. We will need at least 1000 Scapular, 1000 Medals, various Dedicated Decades and other Sacramentals. These will not only cater for new members but also to replace old Scapulars. I wish that all the requested materials reach Windhoek by mid- September.

May I thank you for all the good work you do for the faithful, may the Good and Kind Lord assist you in all you do, and may He sustain all our Benefactors in His own way.

United in Prayer,

SR. MARGARET UUTONI, MSC

ST. PHILOMENA – GOD’S GIFT TO THE MODERN WORLD (concluded)

The thatched cottage of the poor, the furrows watered with the sweat of the indigent worker, the obscurity of the hamlets, the bed of the suffering where laments the abandoned sick, even the cradle of infancy: such are the settings of the Power of the Lord. It is here where His adorable majesty descends; here where His Finger writes in dazzling letters: Providence full of Love!

Whatever may be our miseries here below, He is ready to lighten them for those who invoke Him. The humble, the little ones have perfectly understood this language. I see them run up from every side. Where, then, are the multitude of men and women, young and old, running? And, they reply to me:

We go to a new Bethlehem, we run to see what has happened,
what it has pleased God to manifest in His Mercy.

St. Philomena receives them with open arms and all sorts of favors follow the benediction which she imparts. They return with joy on their faces and peace in their hearts. The one assures me that he saw the Saint who cured him of a long lasting illness, the other is a fortunate mother who presents with pride the fruit of her womb; he who was dead is suddenly restored to life; this one stops and is astonished to contemplate one of his limbs, once crippled, restored in fullness.

Oh, how more capable are the Hands of God than the most renowned earthly science! Further down, I notice an inn. The wine was on the point of running out just as at the wedding at Cana and, behold, a quantity of casks are now full. They had come to honor Saint Philomena and she miraculously provided for their needs.

That is enough, Christians! Will we love, will we bless so good and so admirable a Providence? Will the sight of its motherly care animate our hearts to deposit in its bosom all our hopes? The hope we place is never confounded. Faint-heartedness is the most common sickness in the unhappy times in which we live. We seem to see everything reeling around us. All threatens ruin.

In proportion as the storm advances, the sky darkens and the darkness thickens over the land, fear redoubles and the beatings of the heart press more and more. It is a terrible thing to see confidence and courage lost! When the lightening leaves, the thunder pales and, to the right and to the left, we hear moaning and groaning. Already, we count many victims and we fear of being struck with the same blows. Ah, mercy! Have no fear little flock. Look to the Good Shepherd Who conducts you to celestial pastures. His Eyes are unceasingly upon you; His Hands always powerful to defend you; His Heart always open to be an asylum to you and to shelter you from the most furious hurricanes. Do you then believe that He sleeps or that He dozes? By and by, He will send to your aid one of His children already entered into the bosom of His celestial Family.

Saint Philomena has come! See in her works, the purpose of her mission. Is she not a blessed Providence for all kinds of sufferings? If you fear, implore her and effects most consoling are sure to be the fruits of your recourse to her all-powerful shepherd’s crook. What if her arm ever becomes insufficient for you? How many others on high in Heaven will be ready to move for you as soon as, filled with the courage of the faith, you will have interested them in your cause. Hence, all rests on this foundation. COURAGE! NO MORE FAINT-HEARTEDNESS!

The peril is great, weakness greater still and the needs are many. No matter; do not be discouraged. The Master, the Dispenser of all blessings, the Savior of both body and soul is close beside you. His Providence is there to serve you. This great God of Infinite Goodness does more than the servants who, when they become tired, permit themselves a bit of rest. But, God is always standing by. He does not wait for a signal to wake Him. Impatient in some way to do good for us, He knocks on our door to encourage our poor hearts to use liberally of Him and His Angels and Saints. If we hesitate to ask, He reproaches us: Behold! For a long time, I invite you. I knock, and you ask nothing of Me. And, therefore, I will give you, according to your desires.

If we let ourselves be vanquished by timidity in spite of His insistence, He will give Himself, by His generous tenderness, even without our having asked. O GOD! Who can be shy with Thee? It makes no difference between things large or small, easy or difficult, possible or even impossible. For He Who can do all, there is never any difficulty or any sort of impossibility.

Courage, Then, Once More! It Is Heaven Which Cries To Us:

All that you ask the Father, in the Name of the Son, the Father will give to you!
St. Philomena is GOD’s Gift to us in these Days of great Darkness for our Consolation,
our Instruction and to bolster our Courage!

SHE IS OUR ANCHOR OF HOPE IN THIS AGE OF DESPAIR!

August 25th, 2015
GLORY BE TO JESUS CHRIST!

Dear Apostles and Benefactors of the Living Rosary,

We reach out in love and prayer to all of you who are kind enough to support our labors in Ukraine and throughout the East for the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Our journey to sanctity is something close to us, simple and possible for us all. Our Daily Bread is the Divine Grace which God gives. God does not demand perfection from us all at once. Grace is dispensed to us gradually, according to the needs and disposition of our soul. God merely asks our faithful correspondence to the Grace of every moment as it is imparted to us. We must be attentive to the voice of God and not deny Him anything, but give generously to Him all that He asks. We must place our confidence in Him making every day and every moment of the day our gift to Him. Self-love makes us incapable of any good; it separates us from God and closes to us the door to happiness. If we wish to be happy, we must die to ourselves. Only the Love of God can make us happy. If we wish to be happy, let us seek not happiness, but Love! There is nothing sadder to a thoughtful man than the riotous feasting and merry making of worldly pleasures. Joy itself is divine, sadness is satanic. Joy in man is the daughter of sanctity, sadness the daughter of sin.

True Christian joy is holy joy, perfect joy, true joy and its source is God Himself. Suffering is a stumbling block and seems to many as irreconcilable with an all-good and loving God. The mystery of suffering is contained in the Heart of God Who permits such evils in order to bring about greater good and for the manifestation of His Glory. To them that love God, all things work together unto good. Christ died on the Cross and sanctified suffering. He infused divinity into it and made of it a kind of sacrament by which the Graces of Heaven descend upon earth. This is the economy of suffering; through it, all things are restored. Suffering is the great agent of our purification. Suffering is the father of love, provided we suffer as Christians and in union with the Spirit of Christ. Christian Suffering sanctifies all things and Divine Love sanctifies all suffering. Humility is the greatest shield against all the evils of the world. We are not asked to embrace suffering, but the Will of God which is manifested in suffering. The best way to suffer is in silence and alone with God. Suffering is a divine instrument for our sanctification. Do tranquilly whatever is within your power and leave the rest confidently in the Hands of God. Only victims are redeemers. Do not ask God to relieve you of your cross, but to give you the strength to bear it.

We keep you and your loved ones, every day, in our Sacred Masses, Holy Hours and Novenas of Prayer. Prayer is the Foundation of Peace. Let us establish in our lives a rich spiritual habit of daily prayer.

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

+ In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Dear Patti Melvin

Greetings from the Catholic Diocese of Bo, Sierra Leone! We are a new diocese just over four years in existence. Before and after the creation of the Bo Diocese, we have been benefitting from your gifts of Rosaries, Scapulars, Medals of various sorts, oils and good literature on St. Philomena. I am especially grateful again to receive these gifts from Miss Juliana Tommy on behalf of Bo Diocese. We shall endeavor to organize the formation of Children’s Rosary groups throughout the diocese and I have decided to put a Religious Sister in charge of this apostolate. Please find attached photos of our meeting with Juliana presenting the gifts to us on Saturday morning of 4th July 2015.
< Bishop Charles Campbell – Catholic Diocese of Bo >

E-Mail: July 6, 2015

Dear Patti Melvin,

Greetings from the newly formed Universal Living Rosary Association Family in Bo! We are so grateful for this opportunity given by Our Lord Himself and St Philomena. For sure, it is not by mistake but by Grace and the Spirit of Our Lady, the great Mother of Our Lord, through whom this mandate has been given to our Patroness St Philomena. We join together to accomplish this great task with permission and support of our Bishop Charles Campbell, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bo. We were able to enroll 43 members after a brief talk by Miss Juliana Tommy who brought the Living Rosary into our Diocese.

I am Sr. Theresa Josiah of the Congregation of Our Lady of the Visitation, a Diocesan Congregation, founded by Archbishop Joseph H. Ganda now (Emeritus) in collaboration with his brother Bishops in Sierra Leone, West Africa, of which Bishop of Bo is the co-founder. I want to testify the great miracle our patroness St Philomena works in reaching with this devotion to our Country Sierra Leone. For three years, I have been trying to instill in our people the spirit of praying by teaching them the Rosary which was very difficult to achieve through another group called Mary League. To start with, my Bishop gave me permission but my brother Priest including my own parish Priest found it so difficult to support and did not even give me permission to talk about the Rosary. My dear brothers and sisters of this great and wonderful Family, I marveled at the great work of our patroness St. Philomena how she just captivated the minds and hearts of all in just accepting her devotion so easily. May the Lord be praised and His beloved Mother, who St. Philomena is striving to present, be venerated! Honor and praise be to our patroness St. Philomena. Long live the ULRA Family worldwide! We started our group on the 5th of July, in the mid of a novena we were making to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. We are confident that Our Lord is surely with us in this mission.

We are grateful for such a great blessing to the church in Sierra Leone. We hope and pray that Our Lord, Our Lady and St. Philomena who began this great work in us and through us will give us the graces we need to reach the farthest end of the earth with His message and task. We have sent the photographs with Sister Juliana Tommy as we do not have camera of our own yet, and we may need some support in books, articles, posters of St. Philomena, Calendars, banners of our Patroness and Mother Mary as we are planning to formally launch and celebrate the ULRA Family in our Diocese on August 11 in a grand style. Please keep us in your prayers for this Ebola Hemorrhage to finally vanish from our country and that, through the intercession of our patroness St. Philomena, our collective dreams of spreading this devotion and planting them in the hearts and souls of men and women will be achieved. St. Philomena, pray for us. May the Good Lord support you and our benefactors spiritually, materially and financially in this great salvific Mission! Remain blessed in Our God and Lord,

ST. PHILOMENA, GOD’S GIFT TO THE MODERN WORLD (continued)

The Saints will not have anything to fear, but the irreligious will seek to avenge themselves on those who cause their sufferings. Should this preview intimidate us or weaken in our hearts sentiments of Christian generosity? A gaze upon St. Philomena: her sacrifice, martyrdom and triumph; the power in which God clothes her before our eyes, the glory which comes to those who are generous with God: these are so many voices which cry out to the faint-hearted: COURAGE! FEAR NOT! If they even kill your body, what harm can they do to your soul? If they exile you from the earth, can they close Heaven’s door to you? Laugh at their efforts. Sacrifice all, rather than let yourself be sullied by their maxims and example. Abandon to them your goods, your dignity, your reputation, even your family and your life. God and your soul are preferred to all that.

The more you will have suffered, the greater will be your measure of eternal happiness. The more you are emptied of self, the more your heart will swim deliciously in the ocean of Divine Love. Oh, ravishing Generosity, what wealth you promise me! If God takes from you all that you own, open up your will, and give it fully to Him. Come, O my God, strip me of all, in order to rejoice in Thy promises! I obey Thee with the fullness of my heart.

To the instruction of St. Philomena, there must be added encouragement. We will cast a passing glance on the action of Divine Providence. The impiety of our day, sterile by itself, has the unique fruit of rejuvenating the blasphemies of ancient times. The servile echo of modern philosophy has been repeated with a thousand mouths, has been retold in millions of pamphlets to the ends of the earth. It comes to say with proud emphasis: There is only one God in the sky, one master on earth and THAT IS ME!

To recognize the existence of God and deny His effective providence is, of all follies, the most evident. It is sufficient to see the miracles which are worked among us to attest to the care, not only ordinary but also extraordinary, of Divine Providence in regard to His creatures.

These miracles are worked by invoking the Saints and, in particular, the Blessed Virgin Mary. They take place in all parts of the world. They are numerous, evident and palpable. Those who do not believe them close their eyes and ears so as not to see them. And, this is what is occurring in our day. This is what makes us cry out: Turn your eyes from the flesh, where sits godlessness. Look to your Mother, most vigilant and tender.

In Mary, you will find the Providence of this Good God whom you serve! She has done and is still doing great things through the intervention of Saint Philomena.

“The Final Battle between Our Lord and Satan will be about Marriage and the Family.”
(Sister Lucia of Fatima)

Dear Apostles of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

We are living in perilous times. Our prayer, apostleship and holy lives are vital for victory in this decisive battle for souls. Your generous donation, faithfulness to your Daily Decade and zeal for souls are the bulwark of the Church Suffering here upon earth. Never lose heart! Remember the Cross is the most precious gift God has to share with us and ask Him to help you carry yours with patience, love and courage. Every day, you and your loved ones are remembered at the Holy Altar.

God is Infinite Majesty and, at the same time, He is Infinite Goodness and Love. No friend or brother, mother or father, spouse or lover, loves us more than God. By the infinite gift of Divine Grace, the most miserable creature can become intimate friends with God, Who emptied Himself, annihilated Himself, as it were, to increase our confidence in His Love for us. He died on the Cross for us and hides Himself under the appearance of Bread that He might be our constant companion. Think of the pains He took to draw us to Himself; the Mercy He has shown us is our surest pledge of the Love He bears us. God is ever near, He is within us. In Him we live and move, and have our being. We must treat Him with confidence. Trustingly and with an open heart, we must talk to Him, telling Him of our works, plans, griefs, fears and concerns. If we love Him, we will not be at a loss for words. He longs to press us close to His Heart. If we are unfaithful to Him one hundred times in a day, we must run to Him, each time, and ask forgiveness. Glance often at Jesus Christ on the Cross. It was to bring us to pardon that God spared not His only Son.

If we sanctify our day through the Morning Offering, recommend ourselves to the Mother of God, make our spiritual reading, living the day as if it were the last of our lives and at the end of the day examine our conscience followed by sincere Acts of Faith, Hope and Charity and, if our focus is God, we will be well prepared for Eternity!

One with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

PATTI MELVIN, Director – ULRA

Let us pray for one another.

St. Philomena makes the devils tremble with rage and she pours inexhaustible treasures upon every type of misery.

Gold and silver will not give sight to the blind, speech to the mute or life to the dead, nor will it dry the tears of a spouse insulted by her husband, con-sole a mother at the sight of her dead child or comfort a child mistreated by a parent, restore a missing limb, or convert a wayward child. Let us imitate her generosity. What is greater than the prize destined for generosity? St. Paul said: I know Him in whom I confide, and I have the certitude that He can return to me, one day, the deposits of the sacrifices and good works which I put in His Hands.

With this confidence, the great apostle threw himself with giant steps into his labors. He braved persecutions, tempests, the sword and a thousand deaths. Does not the Faith enlighten us also? We know what he knew. His certainty is also ours. Let us stop at St. Philomena: On the day and the moment of her sacrifice she saw, only by faith, the reality of the Divine promises. Separated from that which she held most dear here below, ignominy attached to her torments, the bitter and long sufferings to which her body was prey, the horrible death which she saw: All sought to destroy her faith, to take away her God and to have flesh, blood and vice triumph. But, our heroine is victorious. Her heart is fixed on invisible things. In vain do the lead-tipped whips make grooves in her flesh, break her bones and make of her body one vast wound. In vain do the pointed darts penetrate to the sources of life; in vain do they want to frighten her by showing beneath her feet, a sea destined to engulf her. The sight of eternal happiness, the crown of glory, eternal union with her Spouse, animates her to brave all, suffer all and devour (so to speak) with an insatiable eagerness all the bitterness and the sufferings.

Almighty God’s indignation will descend on all nations. His sword of justice will be dripping with the blood of His enemies. Oh, what a cup of sorrows He is preparing from on high to fall upon corrupt flesh and impious hearts! St. John tells us that in the end times (and it will be one of the principal trials of Heaven’s fury toward the earth), even the good themselves will have to carry heavy crosses, wage terrible struggles and sustain great and difficult warfare. Only the victorious, those who have on them the sign and the patience of Jesus, will come to sit with Him on the throne. He tells us that, at the time of the great tribulation, the blood of the faithful will run, the Church, the Spouse of Jesus Christ, Who died and Who lives, will be pursued, as well as Its children, by the infernal dragon: that he will seek to break in their hands the Table of the Law, to extinguish in their hearts the light of evangelical precepts and erase from their brow the glorious testimony of the Savior. He tells us that a beast will come out of the sea (the anti-Christ) and he will be powerfully helped by another beast who will rise up from the earth (these are false prophets), and together they will seduce the inhabitants of the earth proposing to them to adore his image or perish in misery, shame and destitution. He speaks to us at the same time of the frightful apostasy which the Lord’s anger prepared in order to avenge the horror.

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL

Mary, Queen and Mother of Carmel, I come today to consecrate myself entirely to Thee. To Thee as the Mother of Grace, I owe all that I am and all that I have, and my whole life is a small return for the many graces and blessings that have come from God to me through thy hands. Since thou regardest with an eye of special kindness those who wear thy Scapular, I implore thee to strengthen my weakness with thy power, to enlighten my mind with thy wisdom, to increase in me Faith, Hope and Charity that I may render, day by day, my debt of humble homage to thee.

May thy Scapular keep thine eyes of mercy turned towards me and bring me thy special protection in the daily struggle to be faithful to thy Divine Son and to thee.

May it separate me from all that is sinful in life and remind me constantly of my duty to behold thee and to clothe me with thy virtues. From henceforth, I shall strive to live in the sweet companionship of thy spirit, to offer all to Jesus through thee and to make my life the mirror of thy humility, charity, patience, meekness and prayerfulness.

O dearest Mother, support me by thy never failing love that I, an unworthy sinner, may come one day to exchange thy Scapular for the wedding garment of Heaven and dwell with thee and the Saints of Carmel in the Kingdom of thy Son. Amen.

O, Beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Pray for Us!

THE GREATEST PRIVILEGE IS REAL AND IT IS OURS!

Heaven and Hell are locked in mortal combat and earth shakes from the shock of the encounter; but no one feels it, no one sees it, no one hears it, no one cares! The salvation of my soul is the most imperative and urgent objective of my life on earth. It is the greatest and grandest occupation in which I can engage. In fact, I am here for no other purpose.

The Brown Scapular is a Sacramental of the Church; it is a Gift from Heaven and a symbol of salvation. A True Child of Mary is NEVER LOST! Those who are clothed in the Scapular are under the protection and sanctifying mantle of the Mother of God. It is a safeguard in danger, whether physical or moral; it invites its wearer to penance and purity, and shields him from Satan and sin!!! The Brown Scapular marks the militia of the Immaculate One. Mary’s livery is the Brown Scapular. To serve Mary is the highest privilege and pledge of eternal salvation. The Brown Scapular, the Garment of Mary Immaculate, is a constant call to modesty in dress and conduct, a silent protest against present-day permissiveness and a hidden appeal to reparation for the insolent nakedness of proud Neo-Paganism! The Brown Scapular is like a hair-shirt, a mild reminder of the need of constant mortification. We are all but infants in virtue and helpless as babes in the woods of this bleak world. We stand in dire need of Our Mother’s unconditional love and care. Our utter helplessness and misery is our claim to her undying protection. The Brown Scapular is a mirror of humility and chastity: the epitome of modesty and simplicity, an eloquent symbol of unceasing prayer, a Total Consecration to the Mother of God. We cannot unite with others in this battle for the Triumph of Christ the King at the cost of TRUTH! What is needed is a unity of prayer! To a faithless world, Our Blessed Mother comes offering us a choice: Death in Life or Life after Death!

“The ultimate Goal of the Requests of Our Lady of Fatima is the Triumph of her Immaculate Heart! It is thought by experts who were convoked by the Bishop of Fatima that the Conversion of Russia would not only be a Sign of that Triumph, but that much of the leadership and drive of the spiritual renewal which will characterize this Triumph will come from Russia!”

There is a great deal of urgency as well as finality to the Fatima Message: Men must cease offending God, Who is already too much offended! Thus, the formula for the Triumph is centered around the offering up of the sacrifices demanded by our state in life and deepening our devotion to Mary by Consecration, the Rosary and the Scapular. Each of these parts is closely related; like the four legs of a chair, all four are needed. It is useless to ask which one is more important than the other. All four make up the solid basis for the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the individual and for all the world. The sign of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Scapular, is silent! And, yet, the Scapular has been the vehicle of more numerous miracles and favors than any other sign the world has ever known. We must strive for the virtues which this Holy Habit signifies: simplicity, humility, faith, trust, love of God and union with Him. We should kiss the Scapular often. Pope Benedict XV granted 500 days indulgence each time we kiss our Scapular. The Sabbatine Privilege was first promulgated by Pope John XXII and was subsequently promulgated by nine other Popes.

What is the remedy needed today? How beautiful that we do know this with absolute clarity, for this remedy has been given to us by God Himself: BEHOLD THY MOTHER! It is His last will and testament to us. IT IS FOR TODAY! We must have an immense increase of devotion to God’s Holy Mother. Mary Immaculate is the Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix of the human race and God’s Peace resides within her Immaculate Heart! We seek in vain for it elsewhere. “Devotion to Mary must be the prominent characteristic of our religion. Jesus is obscured because Mary is kept in the background. Thousands of souls perish because Mary is withheld from them. It is the miserable, unworthy shadow which we call our devotion to the Blessed Virgin that is the cause of all our wants and blights. It is at the root of our decline! If Mary were but known how much happier, how much holier, how much less worldly we would be and how much more we would be living images of Our Lord and Savior, her dearest and most Blessed Son!” (Father F.W. Faber – November 21, 1862)

Each of us must be aglow within, shining without, ardent for love of God and our fellow man; ardent in prayer, brilliant in action; ardent for the Glory of God and luminous with charity for our neighbor. But, where are we to light our torch and obtain the fire which must enkindle the hearts of men? It must be in the furnace of the Holy Heart of the Mother of Fair Love! Her Heart will inflame the hearts of the just and, at the same time, set fire to the hearts of sinners!

Don’t hold back! The Church is the Family of God. It is a Universal Church. There is no such thing as a spiritual step-
child. Be an intimate part of the Family! Don’t be afraid to turn to Mary, your Mother. Abundant are the graces and powerful the blessings which come to us through her Immaculate Heart. Open your arms and your heart, and receive them all. Sign up for the Scapular Confraternity, it is part of your Family inheritance!

With all our hearts, we praise thee, O Mother of God!
Hail Mary, Daughter of God the Father!
Hail Mary, Mother of God the Son!
Hail Mary, Spouse of the Holy Ghost!
Hail Mary, Temple of the Divinity!
Hail Mary, Immaculate Lily of the resplendent Trinity!
Hail Mary, Queen of the Universe, to whom all power has been given in Heaven and on Earth!
Hail Mary, Queen of my heart, my Mother, my Life, my Consolation and my Hope!

HAIL HOLY QUEEN, MOTHER OF MERCY, OUR LIFE, OUR SWEETNESS AND OUR HOPE!

Write to us TODAY and include a donation to help cover the cost of the Scapular materials, your Membership and the monthly Masses.

We offer this Sacred Bouquet of Holy Masses during the month of July, in honor of and in thanksgiving for the great privilege of the Protection of the Mother of God, given to us by God, through her most Holy Scapular: In reparation for our sins and the sins of the whole world, in petition for all the graces necessary for salvation for ourselves and our families, and in thanksgiving for God’s Holy Mother and all the abundant blessings and gifts we have received through her Pure and Immaculate Heart and Hands!

In honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, let us recommend our loved ones, living and departed, to the maternal Heart of Mary, through the Holy Scapular and enroll them in the special thirty one days of Holy Masses being offered in July through Father Ivan Kolodiy in Ukraine, for our families. May they be surrounded by the protection of the Mother of God through the Holy Scapular!

Weekly News Flash from the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena, Wednesday July 1, 2015

August 25th, 2015
Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Dear Apostles and Benefactors of the Living Rosary,

The most Holy Eucharist contains in Itself the entire plan of God. The immense Glory rendered to the Father by the Word Incarnate, has brought God and His creation nearer to each other. It fills up the depths of its misery with the Grace of God, Grace abundant and rich. The Sacrifice of the Son of Man becomes the basis and cause of the supernatural order, both in Heaven and on earth. By our incorporation with the Incarnation of the Word in the act of His Sacrifice, we put on the dignity of Christ Himself.

We must approach Jesus in Holy Communion in a spirit of sacrifice. Matter is not lacking, for each day brings us crosses, great and small, that we may be united with His sufferings on Calvary. Holy Communion not only unites us to Christ but also to His followers who, wherever they may be, share in His Banquet. When Christ lives in us, all will be of the same mind and will prove it by their mutual love. The charity here, more than anywhere else in the world, is the bond of perfection. Union is the fruit of love. We must remember with profound gratitude that God has called us from the highways and hedge-rows of heathendom to the shelter of Holy Mother the Church. The lowliest task offered for the salvation of souls can help priests and missionaries in their labor and obtain the Grace of a true conversion for those entrusted to them. If we ourselves receive Holy Communion with true piety, living from day to day on the strength It brings us, it will not escape the notice of those with whom and for whom we work and live. Tenderly, yet insistently, Christ extends to us this invitation, “Come to Me, all you that labor and are burdened; I will give you rest.”

We are often weary on our journey. Cares, struggles, temptations and failures leave their mark upon us. We are crushed under the weight of our faults and sins, burdened with passions and evil desires. We long for Christ’s refreshing Grace, but feel ourselves unworthy. We think rarely of Him, are so distracted in our prayers, so proud and selfish! Our thoughts are set on the things of this earth; yet He continues to call us. It is not those who are in health that have need of a physician; it is those who are sick. Jesus alone can cure, cleanse and bind up our wounds. “Come to us, O Jesus, and transform us into Thyself! Live in us and make us apostles of Thy Love. Teach us to be submissive to Thy adorable Will. We are ready to sacrifice all we are and have for Thy Love and Glory.”

United with all the members of the Living Rosary, and bound in love and duty to serve your spiritual needs, you may rest assured that each and every day you are remembered in my Sacred Masses and daily duties that all souls may be sanctified, God be glorified and we may be the instruments of His mission in the world to redeem mankind.

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

ST. PHILOMENA, GOD’S GIFT TO THE MODERN WORLD! (Continued)

The third lesson that St. Philomena teaches us is the crown of the other two. I like to see our Saint surrounded by the imposing apparel of a sacrifice truly heroic. Behind her, beyond the seas, is the island where her father reigns supreme. Heiress of his power, sole mistress of his crown, she will be the joy of her subjects who, in turn, will try hard by their devotion and their fidelity to make her happy. At her side, is a father of whom she is the unique offspring. He bases his sweetest hope on this beloved daughter. Her qualities, virtues and nobility render her infinitely dear to him and her mother! This mother who, until that day, was her inseparable companion: these two hearts made but one. Between them flowed a common will of kind attentions and tenderness. What sorrow when a sword as pitiless as the blows are frightful, will come to separate the girl from the mother! Before her is a throne most majestic and lovely. She humbles herself. She could mount the steps of the throne. Oh, God, how the step is slippery! How the dazzle is to be feared! Her father and mother fall at her side. To raise her up high, the illustrious Emperor descends and humbles himself. The master of the world and, with him, the entire world is at her feet. Philomena, choose! Speak! See the imperial purple, the crown and the palace of the Caesar’s; this court, brilliant and inexhaustible in its treasures, where each day the riches of the universe will be yours. Speak! If you refuse, you need only cast a glance at the scaffold. The most notorious and cruel sufferings are prepared for you! Heaven! What an alternative!

Philomena is above her age and her sex; her heroism comes from on high. One glance from her Divine Spouse Who put Lucifer to flight, fortifies her heart and renders her invulnerable to the false enticements. She refuses. In falling under the tyrant’s sword, she is victorious. She receives an immortal crown and is placed upon a throne in eternity. Received into God’s own palace, her reign will have no end! Such is the hundred-fold promise of Christian generosity. In His infinite liberality, God, after the immense interval of fifteen centuries, adds to the treasures of His generous spouse. Rome, the capital of the pagan world saw her buried without glory, and it is in Rome that she is resurrected full of the most admirable life. Today, Rome becomes the Holy City and exhumes her with respect from the holy under-ground where her remains repose. After placing her on the altars of the King of kings in triumph, it revives her memory, extols her virtues, propagates her cult, and salutes her with ecstasy and with the name of:

WONDER-WORKER OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY!
