Dear Apostles and Benefactors of the Living Rosary,

This is the solemn month of remembering our departed Loved Ones who await union with God in the purifying fires of Purgatory. Your suffrages for them and the thirty days of Sacred Masses being offered by us, will hasten the day of their union with God in Eternal Beatitude. There is no greater charity.

Christ is the world’s greatest Teacher. He spoke unforgettable parables and confounded the sinfully wise in their wickedness. Still, it is not uncommon for each of us to go through spells when He seems silent to us. We listen for His voice and hear nothing. In His silence, He is speaking to us. We must listen. In the Gospel at Holy Mass, He speaks to us; through the voice of our superiors, through our Daily Duty, through the wise guidance of a spiritual book: all these are God’s voice speaking to us that we may find Truth and have direction.

The Son of God walks with us today, but we cannot see His Face. He comes from the secret streets of Heaven, but hides Himself in the Host, in the Tabernacle and in our hearts. It was sin that forced His divinity into hiding. Yet, even in hiding, God is constantly revealing Himself to us. He is in the works He created, the beauty of the flowers and in the mighty strength of the atom. His tender love shines in a mother’s eyes, His generosity shows in the lavishness of nature. Although God may seem to sleep, He is steering the ship hidden by the storms and waves. The earth is potent with grain and wheat, but it must be dug and plowed.

Wisdom and knowledge await us, but only after painful and tiring search. We long for friends but friendship must be sought and nurtured. God does not force Himself upon us or rudely demand attention. He waits for our questing heart. He will reward our tireless and longing desire to look upon His Face. We must patiently search for Him, listen for His voice, and receive Him frequently in Holy Communion. We wait for the happy day when life’s quest will end in the face to Face vision of our Eucharistic King. Let us accept death as an homage and adoration which we owe to God’s divine Majesty, for death is the only means we have of going to God, our beginning and last end. “Father, into Thy Hands, I commend My Spirit!”

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Dear Patti,

Greetings in the Lord! This letter is very much overdue. I apologize for the delay of my response to your kind letter last July. I thank you very sincerely for the Holy Mass Crucifix you sent me. I feel very privileged to have been gifted with such a very vivid “reminder of the reality of Calvary present to all time and place in the Holy Mass.” Thank you also for reminding me of my assigned Decade given to me years ago by Sister Lily Ann Ayu-on, DST, who enrolled me in the Universal Living Rosary Association. Sister Lily Ann had died some two or three years ago. God rest her soul. She was in charge of the Catechetical Apostolate of the Diocese of Naval, and she also enrolled in the association some of the catechists of the diocese.

During the last AD LIMINA visit to Rome of the Philippine Bishops in 2011, I had the opportunity to visit the St. Philomena Shrine in Mugnano. Msgr. Braschi, the Director of the shrine gave me the privilege to celebrate Mass at the altar of St. Philomena and made me wear a beautiful vestment that a cardinal had worn many years ago at his Mass in the shrine. He also gave me a relic of St. Philomena. For all this I am very grateful to St. Philomena. This is the reason why I humbly accepted the request of Bro. Gelson Abecia to be the Spiritual Director of the Living Rosary Association in our diocese. I intend to ask Bro. Gelson to recruit more members and to expand his responsibility towards two or three parishes in my diocese bordering his “CENTER.”

You mentioned in your letter whether there is anything we need for the Association. Yes, we need Sacramentals, Rosaries and some religious articles which some prospective members are asking. I remember Sister Lily Ann used to give some of those to members when she organized the Living Rosary Association in Naval.

Thank you very much, Patti, for your kind letter. I appreciate the last two paragraphs which are very beautiful reflections on Our Lady and the Holy Rosary. Incidentally, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is the Patroness of the Diocese of Naval. The word “NAVAL” is reminiscent of the Naval Battle of Lepanto. We pray to Our Lady to once again defeat the evil intentions of the enemies that are persecuting Christians in some parts of the world. Please, pray also for me as I do for you and your work for the Universal Living Rosary Association around the world. God bless you abundantly!

Dear Patti Melvin, ULRA Director,

I am an inmate in a federal prison. My name is Matthew Rogers and I am 34 years old. A year and a half ago, I was in the county jail and facing a US attorney who wanted me to serve 20 years plus. I prayed the Rosary daily and petitioned the Saints, went to Confession often and attended Holy Mass whenever the opportunity arose. Even through extreme darkness, the light was always Mary’s most pure and loving Heart.

Our Lady was always with me. I had a vision once during a long cold night in the dungeons cell. She appeared in my mind as a self-luminous beacon in the dark. The light of God shone through her. It was like She was a candle in God’s Hands. She wore royal blue and her hair was brown. She looked youthful and filled with perfect peace. I am Mary’s child and She does not abandon her own. I admire what the Living Rosary does in helping the world to recognize Mary as the gift that She truly is. A week ago, I helped a man learn to pray the Rosary using the Rosary leaflet put out by the Living Rosary. It isn’t the first time I have used your materials to teach a person about the true Faith. To me, nothing I have done in my life is more important than this. My locker is adorned with prints and icons that you sent to the prison; prayer cards and other images fill my living space. Most inmates hang dirty pictures of naked women in their lockers but, for me, the ever Virgin Mother of God is far more beautiful.

There is such little purity in this hell-like prison. In such darkness and filth, Mary’s perfect Heart lights the way! When federal prisoners receive their sentencing, none of their property goes with them. All my Catholic books, Rosary, Crucifix, medals and all that brought me comfort were stripped from me. Yet, even then, I did not give up hope. Sitting in a solitary confinement cell for four days straight, I fashioned a Rosary out of toilet paper and meditated on the Mysteries. There are times when this experience hurts so much, yet if I turn and unite my suffering with His Cross, I can bear anything!

I ask a few favors: a Rosary, prayer book, little holy card and a prayer leaflet. I ask you please to try and remember to pray for all prisoners, homeless and suffering people, for all those who fall asleep alone and unwanted, the lonesome, the afraid and the sick. This I beg of you. Love humanity as Mary does. See even your enemy through Mary’s eyes. May we be united with her pure Heart in Heaven! Tangible goodness is so precious and so rare in prison. The inmates who see me “being Catholic” really start to wonder, in good ways, what it is all about. So many people are missing the freedom that faithful obedience offers. I am trying my best to help.

With much gratitude!

Matthew Prison Inmate

THE GREATEST PRIVILEGE IS REAL AND IT IS OURS!

Heaven and Hell are locked in mortal combat and the earth shakes from the shock of the encounter; but no one feels it, no one sees it, no one hears it… no one cares! The salvation of my soul is the most imperative and most urgent objective of my life on earth. It is the greatest and grandest occupation that I can engage in. In fact, I am here for no other purpose.

The Scapular was given to Saint Simon Stock, Prior of the Carmelite Order in England, in the year 1251. On 16th July, Our Lady held out the Brown Scapular to St. Simon Stock and promised, “Whoever dies piously wearing this Scapular will not suffer eternal flames.” Through a Papal Bull on 3rd March 1322, the Sabbatine Privilege was given to the Church and this great privilege has been confirmed by nine subsequent Popes. The Brown Scapular is the Sacramental of the Church; it is a gift from Heaven and a symbol of salvation ~ for a true child of Mary is never lost! Those clothed in her Garment of Grace will be protected and sanctified. It is a safe-guard in danger, whether physical or moral; it invites its wearer to penance and purity while shielding him from Satan and sin!

The Brown Scapular marks the militia of the Immaculate One. Before God’s holy angels, it designates those who wear it as servants and slaves of Creation’s Queen, as specially beloved sons and daughters of the sun-robed Virgin who has crushed the serpent’s head. To serve the Mother of God is the highest privilege and, truly, our pledge of eternal peace. The Brown Scapular is the being the garment of Mary Immaculate and, as such, it is a constant call to modesty in dress and conduct; a silent protest against present-¬day permissiveness and a hidden appeal to reparation for the insolent nakedness of proud neo-paganism! The Brown Scapular is much like a miniature hairshirt and a mild reminder of the need for constant mortification.

The Brown Scapular is like swaddling clothes in which Our Heavenly Mother wraps her spiritual infants to protect them from the coldness of sin, to adorn them with the beauty of virtue and to warm them with God’s Love. No matter how advanced we may be in years or learning or social standing, we are all but infants in virtue, helpless as babes in the woods of this bleak world. We stand in dire need of our Mother’s constant care.

The Brown Scapular is a vital part of the Fatima message. Sr. Lucia told us we cannot separate the Rosary and the Scapular; both are essential to our life of grace in bringing about the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and subsequent Reign of Christ the King.

Letter of Pope Pius XII

“Truly, the Holy Scapular, the habit of Mary, is a sign and pledge of the protection of God’s Mother, but those who wear it, must bear in mind the words of the Apostle: In fear and trembling, work out your salvation. To all Carmelites, belonging as they do by a special bond of love to the family of the Blessed Virgin Mary, let this reminder (the HOLY SCAPULAR) be a mirror of humility and chastity; let its unpretentious form be for them an epitome of modesty and simplicity; above all, let this garment which they wear day and night, be for them an eloquent symbol of the unceasing prayer by which they ask for God’s help and, finally, let it be for them a consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary! Our good Mother shall most certainly see to it that, by her intercession with God, all her children who go to Purgatory to expiate their sins shall reach Heaven as quickly as possible, according to that tradition called the Sabbatine Privilege…” Given at St. Peters, 1950

Our conflict today is not for land or national rights, it is for the souls of men; a conflict between the absolute who is God-man, and the absolute who is man-god: God who became man vs. man who has made himself God! The religion of the man-god is a new religion without a Cross, a liturgy without a world to come, a religion to destroy all religion. The forces of evil are united; the forces of good are divided. We cannot unite at the cost of TRUTH, but what is needed is a unity of prayer. We may not be able to meet in the same pew ~ would to God that we could ~ but we can meet on our knees! To a faithless deadlocked world, Our Blessed Mother comes offering us a choice: DEATH IN LIFE, OR LIFE AFTER DEATH!

RECEIVE THIS GARMENT

We have all been invited to the Wedding Feast of the King. Will we beg to be excused due to lack of interest, the demands of our manifold duties, a new bride? And, if we do appear at the Feast, will we be clothed in the wedding garment? God forbid that, through ignorance, pride and disobedience, we will appear before the King naked, only to be cast into the darkness outside where there will be the weeping and gnashing of teeth. Through our beloved Spiritual Director, Fr. John Luke of the Holy Ghost, Our Lady is reaching out to each one of us to become members of the Scapular Confraternity of Mount Carmel and obtain the blessings and protection of the Sabbatine Privilege.

Write to us today, giving your Christian name, address, and country. Include a small donation to help cover the cost of Scapular materials, your Confraternity card and the monthly Masses for members. More than ever before, we must redouble our missionary efforts, if not to convert the world, then at least to salvage as many souls from materialism and the aggression of socialism as possible. Every conversion is a matter of efficacious grace and apostolic activity. The suffering, which awaits us, is almost without limit. Let us fortify ourselves wisely for the trials ahead by putting on the armament of the Immaculate One!

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)
Practical Application of the Perfect Devotion
GOOD INTENTION

Our exterior life with its actions should more and more resemble that of the Holy Family at Nazareth. Our Lord once said to St. Gertrude: “Just as a usurer never willingly loses a chance to gain some profit, much less would I permit even one of your thoughts, one of your slightest movements prompted by love for Me, to be without profit for your soul. I will make all this redound to My great glory, and your eternal salvation.” All our actions, even the most common, done in the state of Grace and with a supernatural intention, are of immense value in the Eyes of God, and the merit increases in proportion to the purity of the motive that inspires them.

Place, then, every morning, all your actions in Mary’s hands, and renew this offering frequently during the day. This good Mother will purify them, says St. Louis de Montfort, from every stain of self-love and every unconscious attachment to creatures, which glide even into our best actions. Mary will beautify them and adorn them with Her own virtues and merits.

By giving up our own intentions and by submitting them to the wish and will of the Blessed Virgin, we follow the example of Jesus Christ Who wished to be dependent on His most Blessed Mother. We thereby glorify God and share in Her sublime intentions which were so pure that the very least of Her actions gave more glory to God than the most heroic virtues of the greatest Saints.

Let us imitate this beautiful model: in our labors, leisure, studies and trials. In a word, in all things, let us be dependent on Mary and put everything into Her hands.

ALL THROUGH MARY, FOR JESUS!

Oh, what joy for the angels, what glory for God, what favors for ourselves and for others we shall daily procure by this simple practice!

STUDY AND MANUAL LABOR

1. Study: Mary is the seat of wisdom and the source of Divine Light. If we wish to succeed in our labors and studies, we must have recourse to this august Mistress. St. Louis Grignion de Montfort wrote to his brother, Joseph, that he would be one of the best in his class if he confided his studies to his tender Mother, the Blessed Virgin, and continued to serve Her, for She would obtain for him whatever he needed.

O student of Mary, especially you who study for the priesthood, imitate the Saints. Before beginning to study, kneel down and say a Hail Mary to this radiant Star; She will banish the darkness of your intellect and give rest to your heart. At the close of your mental labors, place them again in Her hands, with the petition to let them redound to the honor of Her Divine Son.

2. Manual Labor: How pleasing to God was Mary’s work! “Even as an infant in Her cradle,” says Christopher de Vega, “Mary honored God more than St. Lawrence roasting on the gridiron, because She was inflamed with greater love. This lovely Child gave more glory to God by Her infantile actions than the greatest Saints have given Him by their heroic deeds.” And what can be said of Her works in later life! If, then, we want to give great joy to God and to His Angels, we must place our manual labors in Mary’s hands, if only by a simple act of the will.

IN MEMORY OF YOUR DEPARTED LOVED ONES

When we love, we remember, and this memory – the effect of love – is not a barren thought. It resolves itself into DEEDS for the loved one. They are at peace for they have escaped Hell forever. But, they are sentenced for a time to expiating fire. Behold their plight and helplessness. Listen to their lamentations. In sympathy and charity, hasten to their assistance.

Enroll your Departed Loved Ones in thirty days of Requiem Masses in Ukraine. Fr. Ivan Kolodiy has arranged for these Masses to be offered from 1st to 30th November. The names you send will be placed upon the Altar during this time. A Mass card will be sent out to you for each one you enroll.

SUGGESTED STIPEND DONATION: $5.00 each for Enrollment in the NOVEMBER Bouquet of thirty days of Requiem Masses for your departed Loved Ones: PRINT VERY CLEARLY EACH NAME!

Share Your Gift of Faith

For centuries, our cherished Catholic faith has been passed from person to person, parent to child, etc. Each of us carries in our heart a special memory of how God first graced us with the knowledge of the faith and how Our Blessed Mother, Saint Philomena, Venerable Pauline Jaricot and other saints changed our lives and brought us closer to Christ.

In our work in the Universal Living Rosary Association, we see first hand how millions of souls are currently living without that knowledge of God and are living outside of His grace. We have been given a beautiful opportunity to carry out Christ’s work and pass on our faith and blessings to others who would otherwise never be introduced to Our Lord, the Savior of all mankind. Just as we pray for the souls in Purgatory who have no one to pray for them, we should also make it a part of our life’s mission to pass on our faith to as many souls as possible who have no one else to pass it on to them, who don’t know Our Lord and His promise of salvation.

Weekly News Flash from the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena, Wednesday November 5, 2014

Dear Apostles and Benefactors of the Living Rosary,

What true joy is mine to thank you for your great generosity in helping with the roof which had collapsed on our parish church! I and all my parishioners want to extend to you the promise of our fervent prayers for many years to come. You and your intentions will always be our priority in prayer. Ours is a perilous time of revolution and your help is a healing balm for the Greek-Catholic Church in Ukraine. St. John the Baptist Church is located between two high schools and a kindergarten. Every day, the children come to the church to visit Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament and to ask God’s blessings for themselves and their families. The economic situation in Ukraine is very bad; yet, while we have few luxuries, we are rich spiritually! Material things perish in the wind, but Eternal Treasures are incorruptible.Christ was not content to offer His Life only once for those He loved; He wished to carry His immolation to a never-heard-excess: to immolate Himself at all hours of the day and night, and in all places upon the earth. Immolation is the fundamental state of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. In the Eucharist, God is helpless, humiliated and annihilated. He is totally dependent upon man. If no one takes Him to the sick, He cannot go. If He is not safeguarded, He will be exposed to any sacrilegious outrage. What excess of Love! In the Eucharist, Christ has taught souls to flee from all pleasures which debase and stain, to embrace all sacrifices that purify and ennoble, and to shrink from nothing that serves love of God and love of neighbor.

When Our Lord comes to us in Holy Communion, His Heart actually beats in ours; our heart and His are united! We are surrounded and enveloped on all sides by His Love; He in me, and I in Him. Love all for His sake: sinners, pagans, infidels, heretics, all who do not know Him and do not love Him. Plead earnestly with His Heart that all will be given a love for the wounded Heart of Christ and His crucified Church.

May we never miss an opportunity to visit Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, to love Him, to thank Him, to petition and adore Him, Who waits all hours of the day and night for our visit!

Dear Benefactors, we appreciate so much your concern for our needs. We beg God to give you strong health and abundant spiritual blessings which will not perish.

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Let us be Beacons of Light in an Age of Darkness!Dear Apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Thank you for your sacrifice and love in supporting the beautiful work of the Living Rosary in the world today. This spiritual gift to us from the victim heart of Ven. Pauline Jaricot is comforting the sick, bringing hope to those in despair and knowledge of the Faith to those who are ignorant of its glory and grace. With every DECADE offered, we hasten the Triumph of Christ the King through the Immaculate Heart of His most Blessed Mother. The only tragedy, today, is for us not to become saints! Through our prayers, sacrifices and zeal, we are putting on Christ, Who says: “Come, follow Me!”

Our children have fallen away from the Sacraments. Many are not married in the Church, daily prayer life has been abandoned. When we suggest they get their lives right with God, they no longer visit, call or write to us. We can talk to them about the Sacraments and the fullness of Truth but, if we are not living a vibrant and radical Catholic life, our words have little influence. If our relationship with God is truly the most important part of our lives, why is this not reflected in our lives? If our marriages and families are our greatest blessings, why do we not sacrifice our careers for them? If God has a plan for us, why do we make so many plans without Him! If Catholicism is true, why isn’t everything we do ordered around this Truth?

Saints are beacons of Christ to the world. They are the most tangible fruits of the Sacraments. A saint is a powerful weapon in this culture of war. They are compelling in every Age and from every angle. They need few words to be understood: no defense, no money, glory or fame. They have only to be themselves and the world can’t help but to change for the better.

Children learn more by what they see their parents do than by any words that may be spoken. We have fallen in love with knowing we are right and calling it love for our neighbor! We attack all the symptoms without getting to the heart. Let us not lecture them to attend Mass but inspire them to want to go. Do not tell them how to dress, give them the example and something to dress for. Instead of lecturing about Truth, live a life transformed by Truth. Prepare the way and, then, get out of the way! Open the door to Truth and then let Truth speak for itself. We must make radical changes in our lives if we are to change the lives of others. Saints are compelling. Empty words and prideful lectures are not! Each of us has been called to be a saint! If we are what we should be, the entire world would be set ablaze with love for God!

I remain, one with you, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

“In the Heart of the Church, I will be Love. Nothing remains in my hands. Everything, I get is for the Church And for Souls!”
Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

Precious Fruits of This Devotion

This devotion, faithfully practiced, produces many wonderful effects in the soul. It establishes in us the life of Mary, so that we can truly say that Mary’s soul lives in us. The soul of Mary becomes, as it were, our soul. When Mary, by an inexpressible but real Grace becomes the Queen of our soul, what marvels does She not accomplish therein! Mary is the Co-operatrix of the great miracles which take place in our interior. She works there in secret, for were the soul to know and realize, it might only impair the beauty of Mary’s work and expose us to the danger of vanity.

Mary is the ever faithful Virgin; She brings to the soul She enters, purity of heart and body, purity of intention, and fruitfulness in good works. Do not think that Mary, the most fruitful of all pure creatures, who brought forth a God-Man, remains idle in a soul adorned with Sanctifying Grace. She will make our soul live for Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ live in us. “My dear children, with whom I am in labor again, until Christ is formed in you” (Gal. 4: 19), said St. Paul regarding the souls he gained for Christ by his love, solicitude and labors. The same may be said, but in a truer sense of Mary. Jesus is as much the Fruit of Mary for each individual soul and for the whole world in general. He is Her Fruit and Masterpiece especially for the soul in which She, the most Blessed Virgin, dwells.

In fine, Mary does all She can for such a soul in order that Jesus may be glorified; She enlightens the mind by Her pure faith; She deepens the heart by Her humility, She inflames it by Her love; She purifies it by Her maternal care. But where shall I stop? Experience alone can teach the marvels of Mary: marvels beyond the belief of the wise and the proud, and even of the majority of devout souls.

As by Mary, God came into the world the first time in humiliation and abasement; may we not also believe that it is, by Mary, that God will come the second time, to reign over all men and to judge the living and the dead?

We may certainly believe that toward the end of time and, perhaps, sooner than we think, God will raise up great men filled with the Holy Spirit and entirely devoted to the service of Mary. By them, this great Queen will work wonders in the world, in order to destroy sin and to establish the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, Her Son, upon the ruins of the kingdom of this corrupt world. By means of this devotion to the most Blessed Virgin, of which I give but the outline, these holy men will accomplish great things.

Dear Patti,Loving greeting from the ULRA Namibia! Since our National Congress in the beginning of the month, the new recruitments are spreading like bush fire. The impact that came out of our gathering is just overwhelming. I continue thanking Our Lady for her continuous interventions. Yesterday, our promoter Vicky from up north was invited to share her experiences at the Rundu ULRA Congress. At the end of her talk, she registered over 50 new members. They were all excited to receive their membership cards, Rosaries, Medals and Scapulars. I gave out all the materials you sent me last time. It is not safe for a box from outside the country to be delivered to remote villages. She asked me to request the items and bring them to her by end of November when I go to visit them. May I please ask for 1000 of each! I will help her to send their names through email. Here are the photos from our Congress. < Sr. Margaret Uutoni, National Director of ULRA – Windhoek – NAMIBIA >

Nick is sending you a message:

Thank you, dear Patti and all ULRA, for your prayers. Now, I can walk again.

Thank you, St. PHILOMENA, for helping and changing my mind. We love you very much.

Thank you, JESUS and Mary, for the time you have given for me to better prepare my soul before before I come in front of YOU! GLORY TO YOU!!!

This is one of the wonderful interventions of St. Philomena for us, the sinners in East.

Thank you, St. Philomena! Ave Maria Gratia Plena!

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

Performing All Our Actions FOR Mary

Through this devotion, we become the slave and possession of this august Queen. It is, therefore, just that we do everything FOR HER, that we work for Her and for Her interests and glory. We do not take Her for our last end, which can be only Jesus Christ, Our God, but for our proximate end, considering Her the most perfect means to go easily and safely to Jesus.

In all our actions, let us guard against our greatest enemy: SELF-LOVE. To renounce and detest this enemy in every action is all-important for a child and slave of Mary. Experience teaches that only too often self-love is the motive and object of our actions. It operates in a hidden way that is not easily perceptible. Works of self-love are rotten fruit which we dare not give to Mary. Let us frequently say from the bottom of our heart:

“O my dear Mistress, O my Queen, for love of thee, I go here or there; for love of thee, I do this or that; for love of thee, I suffer this pain or that wrong,” etc.

Admonitions of De Montfort

Remember, chosen soul, not to approach the Lord except by Mary, that is, through Her intercession, through Her mediation, through the high esteem in which She is held by Him. Do not imagine that it is more perfect to go directly to Jesus, directly to God Himself, in your actions and intentions. If you go to Him without Mary, your actions will be of less value and merit than if you act through Mary, for then it is She who works in you and your actions will be ennobled, and made very pleasing to God.

Beware, however, of doing violence to yourself in order to taste and feel devotion, or of craving for consolation; on the contrary, say and do everything in that pure faith which Mary had on earth, and which She will communicate to you in due time. Leave to your sovereign Queen the enjoyment of the Beatific Vision, the transports, the joys, the pleasures and the riches of Heaven. Content yourself with pure faith and say, “Amen! Whatever Mary, My heavenly Mistress does, so let it be!”

Take great care not to be downcast, should you not enjoy the sweet presence of the Blessed Virgin in your interior! This Grace is not given to all. But, when God in His great mercy favors a soul with this Grace, she can very easily lose it again, unless she be faithful in frequently renewing her interior recollection. Should this happen to you, then immediately return to your heavenly Mother with tranquility of heart and ask Her forgiveness.

Experience will teach you a great deal more in this regard than I can tell you and, if you are faithful to the little I have taught, you will find in this practice such treasures of Grace that your heart will be amazed and filled with joy. Let us labor, then, beloved soul. Let us act in such a way that by the faithful practice of this devotion, the soul of Mary may be in us to glorify the Lord and the spirit of Mary, to rejoice in God Our Savior!

This is the box we send out to the foreign Missions $77.95. It contains Rosaries, Scapulars, Miraculous Medals, Cord & Oil, Newsletters, Calendars, Catechism books, 2 TAN books, large color prints, lists and encouragements for our Promoters.

Saint Raphael, Medicine of God!Dear Apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,Thank you for your wonderfully generous donation for our work in mission lands. We hear so much about the suffering of the Church, terrorism, disease and death. God asks us to take an active part in the Redemptive Mission of the Church. The more ‘little’ we become, the greater use He can make of us. Our Blessed Mother will shelter us within her Immaculate Heart and make fruitful our labors. Our prayers are with you. Have Courage!

Do we shudder at the thought of suffering and pain?
Do we, at times, feel it is impossible to go on?
Do we desire a remedy for the ills of this life?

We must walk in the footsteps of Jesus, the Model of suffering, in order to find hope and sweetness. We must make this journey with Him.

Health and happiness are the two great pillars of life: the body craves health, the soul craves happiness. If we demand happiness from the world, we demand what it cannot give and was never made to give. Though our body may be ill, our soul can be perfectly happy as the source of happiness is God within. Religion enables us to face suffering and even death without fear. We are in this world for a sublime and eternal purpose. Sin is the turning from God to self. It is the only real evil in the world today. It dates back to the Garden of Paradise when Adam first turned from God. With that sin, suffering entered into the world. The crime of our Age is self-love. No small part of the pain and misery in this world can be traced to the sins of mankind. No man loves suffering for its own sake. To suffer like a hero is to learn obedience, patience and charity. It is to follow Christ. Where there is true love, suffering loses its sting. Christ took up His Cross willingly. He loved the Father. He came to earth to do His Will. In doing this, He has conquered death with all its pain. In this lies the victory of every true Christian.

The Holy Eucharist contains the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is our Food! He is the remedy for the ills of the soul. He nourishes our soul, and gives it comfort and strength. With the Bread of Angels, we will face every trial and every form of suffering without complaint and without fear!

I remain, one with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Let us pray for one another.

Dear Patti,The people in San Carlos City are very religious. Every year, during the month of October, each of the thirty chapels in our city daily offers a Rosary at dawn, followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We have a relic of the Blessed Virgin Mary which we are privileged to venerate. Every First Saturday of each month, we have our dawn Rosary around the City followed by a Holy Mass. On October 4, we had another investiture of the Children of Mary. These children are from the orphanage at the House of Nazareth. They are under the supervision of the Holy Family Sisters. Those Children of Mary who were already invested are the ones who lead the October Rosary in their respective villages, moving from house to house. I have attached their pictures taken during the investiture. Thank you and God bless us all!Hail to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary!Carmelita – Philippines

These are the Miraculous Medals given to the Children of Mary during their Investiture.

Dear Patti Melvin,Greetings from Kentung, Myanmar! It is my pleasure to inform you that we received all the parcels you sent. We thank you and our benefactors for their contributions and sacrifice. What you sent made a lot of difference in the lives of my parishioners. God really works miracles for those who have faith and trust in Him through the intercession of Mary, Our Mother, and through our beloved St. Philomena.

Many sick people have recovered and some ladies, who are married for many years without a child, have now been blessed with children. They are healed physically, morally and mentally.

I am pleased to send you the photos, lists of our new members and testimonies of many miracles that occurred in our area. There has been healing and conversions through prayers, Sacramentals and the cord and oil of St. Philomena. I still need many Rosaries, Sacramentals and St. Philomena cord and oil.

Thank you and all our benefactors.

God bless all of you!

Gratefully,

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

Performing All Our Actions IN Mary

To perform all our actions in Mary, we must accustom ourselves, little by little, to interior recollection and try to present to ourselves some spiritual image of the Blessed Virgin. This, however, should be done in an easy, natural manner. Mary should be for us an oratory in which we can offer up all our prayers to God without fear of not being heard; She should be the Tower of David, in which we are kept secure from all our enemies; She should be a burning lamp to enlighten our soul and to inflame us with Divine Love. Mary should be the altar upon which we behold God in Her, and Her in God. In a word, Mary should be the only means used by us in dealing with God, our refuge in every need and under all circumstances.

When we pray, we should do so in Mary; when we receive Jesus in Holy Communion, we should place Him in Mary, so that He may take His delight in Her. Mary will receive Him lovingly, will enthrone Him honorably, will adore Him profoundly, will love Him perfectly and will render Him such worship in spirit and in truth as is utterly unknown to us in our blindness. Whether the soul is active or quietly abandoning itself to contemplation, it should be done in Mary.

Oh, how beautiful is the interior of Mary! Mary is the new terrestrial paradise of the new Adam; the ancient paradise was but a faint figure of Her. There are in this paradise riches, beauties, rarities and indescribable sweetness which Jesus Christ, the new Adam, has left there. For, in this paradise, He took complacence for nine months, worked His wonders and displayed His riches with the munificence of a God.

Oh, what glory, what pleasure, what happiness is awaiting those who enter into Mary and dwell in Mary, where the Most High has set up the throne of His supreme glory! But, how difficult it is for sinners like ourselves to obtain the permission, the ability and the necessary light to enter into a place so high and so holy, which is guarded not only by one of the cherubim, like the earthly paradise of old, but by the Holy Spirit Himself, Who is the absolute Master and Protector of the sanctuary of Mary, and Who said of Her: “Mary, My Spouse, is a garden enclosed, a fountain sealed.” The miserable children of Adam and Eve, driven from the earthly paradise, cannot enter into this one except by a particular Grace of the Holy Spirit, which they must first merit.

But, after we have obtained this excellent Grace by fidelity in the practice of this holy devotion, we must remain in the fair interior of Mary, repose there in peace, remain there with confidence and hide ourselves therein securely. Thus, in that virginal bosom, the soul will be nourished with the milk of Grace and maternal mercy; it will be delivered from its troubles, fears and scruples; and it will be safe against all its enemies – the world, the devil and sin, which never have found nor ever will find entrance there.

Mary, therefore, says that they who work in Her shall not sin. “They who work in me,” (these are the words of Holy Scripture which the Church applies to Mary) “shall not sin;” No! They who truly dwell in Mary’s spirit shall fall into no considerable fault.

Lastly, we must remain in the beautiful interior of Mary that the soul may be formed in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ in the soul, because Her bosom is, as the Holy Fathers say, the chamber of the Divine Mysteries, where Jesus Christ has been formed and where all the elect are to be formed spiritually.

Dear Benefactors and the Members of the Living Rosary Association,

I would like to thank you very much for your support in building the roof of the church. Through your help and support, we were able to buy the iron and steel needed in order to continue the work. This week, the company is going to finish the making of the iron elements for the roof. Next week, they will put them on the roof and then the workers are going to start making the main dome of the church. The church is going to have three domes which symbolize the Holy Trinity. Also, at the present moment, I have the important task to build the main dome and to order four crosses for the church. I am looking for benefactors who can help us build the church and put the crosses atop the main dome and the three smaller domes. The names of the benefactors will be carved on the bottom of the crosses. The blessing of these crosses is a very unique liturgical service which is performed by the Bishop. The benefactors who donate for the crosses receive the special blessings and graces. All the people kiss these crosses and the Bishop will be celebrating a special Sacred Mass for the constant protection of the benefactors from every evil. Also, the names of the benefactors will be remembered at the Altar during every Sacred Mass because their names are carved on the bottom of the crosses. The cross is our most powerful protection from the evil; this is why only the Bishop must bless them.

Winter is coming and I am trying to put the roof at the church as soon as it is possible. This year, our parish is having 250 children who are going to study Catechism and sing in the parish. The parishioners help as much as they can but their money is not enough. I beg the good hearted benefactors to help my parish in this noble task.

We see here the architect’s sketch of the church upon completion.

With our prayers and respect,

Dear Benefactors, Apostles and Members of the Living Rosary,

October is the glorious month of Our Lady of Fatima and the Holy Rosary. We must have a deep appreciation of the Holy Rosary which is the compendium of the Sacred Gospel of Christ. This is a good month in which to consecrate our lives to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

We have clear guidelines from the Mother of God, who tells us how to find our way to Heaven: Daily Duty, Reparation, Consecration, Sacrifice and Prayer. Our beloved Mother sets down her wishes so clearly that none can fail to understand them. But, what of the Sacred Heart of Jesus? How best can we live our consecration to Him and in what does it consist? Clearly, in order to model our hearts on the Heart of Christ, we must be a victim of reparation. We cannot limit ourselves to avoiding one fault or another or to acquiring a particular virtue, rather we must strive to reform our whole lives. The Divine Master offered us His Heart as a model, “Learn of Me for I am meek and humble of Heart.” Well He knew, that we must remove all pride and self-love from our hearts. Anger is a symptom of pride. We must master our emotions so that our serenity is not lost. To win this battle, we must never give up the struggle. A very vital part of this effort must be our evening examination of conscience. Do we take time to thank God for the Graces He has given us during the day? Prayer keeps us in the state of Grace. What gratitude do we not owe God for giving us His Divine Son and lavishing on us so many spiritual and temporal Graces!

May the Holy Ghost dispel the darkness which hides from us the wickedness and malice of our sins! Let us beg God that we may detest them as much as they are detested by Him, and that we may fear nothing more than to commit them again. We pray that every breath we take and every pulsation of our hearts will offer the Church Militant, Triumphant and Suffering infinite praise, adoration and love unto the end of time. Save us, O Lord, when we are awake, and keep us while we sleep, that we may watch with Christ, and rest in peace.

The hearts of all those in Ukraine breath a prayer of thanksgiving for all that you have given to us, for our mighty union of prayer with you, and for making our families and clergy strong in this battle against the enemies of God. All through the month of October, we remember your sick and suffering at the Sacred Altar.

Performing our Actions THROUGH Mary

To perform all our actions through Mary, we must obey Her in all things; or, in other words, we must permit the Holy Spirit to guide and rule us in all things. For, as Mary was never led by Her own spirit, but always by the Holy Ghost Who, from the first moment of Her Immaculate Conception, made Himself Her Lord and Master, so must we also endeavor in all things to obey the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. These sentiments are expressed by St. Ambrose: “Let the soul of Mary be in each of us to magnify the Lord, and the spirit of Mary be in each of us to rejoice in God.”

A soul is happy, indeed, when it is entirely possessed and ruled by the spirit of Mary: a spirit meek and strong, zealous and prudent, humble and courageous, pure and profound. Happy the soul who in all things is dependent upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and obedient to Her to whom the Child Jesus was subject. Such a one has found true wisdom and the Holy Ghost dwells in him.

In order that the soul may let itself be guided by Mary’s spirit, it must renounce its own spirit, its own views and its own will, before doing or undertaking anything. For example, when we pray or hear Mass or receive Holy Communion, we should unite ourselves with our heavenly Mother and, through Her and with Her, receive Holy Communion and assist at Mass; otherwise, our own sentiments, however good they may appear to us, will put an obstacle to the spirit of Mary by the darkness of our spirit and the corruption of our will.

Furthermore, we should deliver ourselves to Mary, to be moved and influenced by Her spirit as She chooses. We should place ourselves in Her virginal hands and leave ourselves to Her like a tool in the hand of a workman, or a flute in the hands of a skillful player. We should lose ourselves and abandon ourselves to Her like a stone one throws into the sea. This, however, should be done simply and in an instant by one glance of the mind, by one little movement of the will, or even verbally by saying for example, “O my dearest Mother, I renounce myself. I give myself to thee entirely and through thee to my dear Jesus, with all that I am and have, now and forever.” This is real union of our will and our spirit with Mary, and although we may not feel any sensible sweetness in this act, it is nevertheless real and effective, and will bring forth magnificent fruits if we but remain faithful and do not neglect this easy and loving practice.

St. Louis Grignion recommends us to make this act of renunciation of our will and offering to Mary, not only when we begin our work but also during its progress and after its completion. He says, the more we do so, the more we shall be sanctified and the sooner we shall attain to union with Jesus Christ, because the spirit of Mary is the Spirit of Jesus.

Sunday, November 30th, 2014
Dear Mrs. Melvin,First of all, thanks for the airlifts, I got yesterday. I wanted to write to you but I was very tired. I reached Peshawar on October 2, early in the morning. There was no time to take rest. So, after breakfast, I went with Sr, Rozie to her school (St. Michael Convent High School). After a formal welcome, I explained the aim of the ULRA. The Rosaries, Scapulars, Miraculous Medals and Decade cards were given to the students after enrollment. Then, along with all these things, books and big pictures were given to teachers also. Sister Gulnaz received the statue of St. Philomena on behalf of Sister Rozie.

Then, Sister sent me to the Junior campus of St. Michael School. The teachers took the responsibility to teach the students and pray the Daily Decade with them in the school. After giving the devotional items to this school, I was taken to St. John Vianney High School which is run by the Brothers of Charity. There, I distributed the Sacramentals and the DD cards to the students and teachers. There were some prominent students also who scored excellent marks in religion education. I gave them big pictures. On 3rd, I visited the Presentation Convent High School. I left for Faisalabad at 1 p.m. At 9 p.m. when I reached the bus stop, there was too much rush due to Eid festival. I could hardly get the ticket at 11.15 p.m. but got the bus at 1 a.m. I had back pain due to prolonged standing. I reached home at 7 in the morning. I was feeling very tired, so the whole day I slept. My body was aching but my back was very painful. Now, it is a bit OK. I am leaving for Gojra after few minutes. In the evening, I hope to return home.

In spite of all these difficulties, I am happy I could reach out to about 1400 hundred students and their teachers and brought them to Our Lady. God bless you!

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

WE SHOULD PERFORM ALL OUR ACTIONS WITH MARY, THROUGH MARY, IN MARY AND FOR MARY!

It is not enough, says St. Louis Grignion de Montfort, to have given ourselves once as slaves to Jesus, through Mary, nor is it sufficient to do so every month or every week. This would be too fleeting a devotion and would not raise the soul to that degree of perfection which it would otherwise be capable of attaining. This very Act of Consecration, if made often and sincerely, is in itself a sublime act of virtue, drawing down upon us the complacency of God and of His Holy Mother. It requires no great effort to practice the outward form of this devotion and say every day a few vocal prayers as prescribed. The great difficulty is to enter into the spirit of this devotion which makes a soul interiorly dependent upon the Blessed Virgin.

We enter into the spirit of this devotion when we give ourselves to Mary entirely as Her full possession, and this spirit is nourished within us by performing all our actions with Mary, through Mary, in Mary and for Mary.

Performing All Our Actions WITH Mary

To perform our actions with Mary, we must regard Her as the accomplished model of every virtue and perfection. She must be, for us, the perfect model which we try to imitate according to our ability and weakness. In every action, we should consider how Mary did it or how She would have done it, had She been in our place. For this end, it is well to meditate on the sublime virtues which She practiced during Her life: First of all, Her lively faith, by which She believed, without hesitation, the Angel’s word and believed it faithfully and constantly up to the foot of the Cross. Secondly, Her profound humility which made Her hide herself, hold Her peace and consider herself the last of all. Thirdly, Her immaculate purity which has never had its equal.

In addition to these virtues, our Saint mentions others which we should try to imitate; i.e. Her implicit obedience, Her constant prayer, Her mortification in all things, Her glowing love of God and of neighbor, Her heroic patience, Her heavenly meekness and wisdom.

“Blessed are they,” says Mary to us in the words of Holy Scripture, “who keep my ways, who imitate my virtues and, with the Grace of God, walk in my footsteps. They are blessed already in this life by the superabundance of Grace and consolation which I impart to them from my abundance. They are still more blessed in death, at which I am present myself, to assist and lead them to eternal joy; and for this reason, their death is usually sweet and peaceful. Blessed, finally, shall they be throughout Eternity, because never has one of my faithful servants been lost, who during life imitated my virtues!”

THE LIVING ROSARY, P.O. BOX 1303, DICKINSON, TEXAS 77539, USA

“TO LOVE WITHOUT MEASURE! TO LOVE WITHOUT END!”

Venerable Pauline-Marie Jaricot

Dear Apostles of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

The Universal Living Rosary has for its life the very breath of the Holy Ghost and it must necessarily be full of charity; then only will it bring charity to the world.

The principle of our labors is to bring the Immaculate Heart of Mary to every individual, that She may form them into Jesus Christ for the Glory of the Father in time and throughout all eternity.

We are the soldiers of Mary Immaculate, whose courage in following her Son to the foot of the Cross of Calvary has never been excelled. We are called to be firm of mind and purpose, to cast aside vain fear and to summon all our powers and resources in order to achieve the Triumph of her Immaculate Heart! We must never yield to the spirit of the world, to the suggestions of the powers of evil, to human respect, timidity or tepidity. With the help of the Immaculate, we will meet frustration with resiliency, tepidity with ardor, faint-heartedness with fearlessness, discouragement with fortitude, and cowardliness with gallantry. Souls which could be saved are left alone. Non-Catholics who could be brought into the Church are not even approached! The lapsed are allowed to pursue their sinful course. All this because the Catholic body is paralyzed by the deadly poison of human respect. We must look upon human respect as a soldier looks upon cowardice: it is despised and punished without mercy. What a shame to be a “delicate” member of a Thorn-Crowned Head!

Our Petit Manual outlines the authentic organization of the Living Rosary. Any variation means departure from authenticity. Insofar as a group or center departs from the instructions of the Manual, they cease to be the authentic Living Rosary. One variation often leads to another, which leads to yet a third and a fourth. Even though the new creation manufactured by an individual group does valuable work, it is not doing it with the blessings that Holy Mother the Church has given the Association, for it is simply not the authentic Living Rosary.

The Living Rosary has developed in a most wonderful way all over the world. This steady development has demonstrated that the official organization is adaptable to circumstances which exist anywhere in the Church. There is never any need for special legislation for special cases or special places. Those who are genuinely convinced in conscience that the organization or system of enrollment needs modification for the circumstances in which they intend to operate, should not start the Living Rosary, but another organization. They, who do not keep the whole rule, are not entitled to use the name of Living Rosary.

Clever men think they can pick parts from the original and weld them into a new composite. They may do so but the resulting creation will never possess the sweetness and inspiration of the original Association. You cannot cut out pieces from a living body and make another living body. The result of this species of surgery is a corpse!

Self must be suppressed in order for us to work in common. Some are full of zeal, immensely competent, undeniably efficient, but incapable of working with others. It is in moderating our own individuality that we serve the Living Rosary best. We must not try to bend the Association to our own ideas, but adapt ourselves and our ideas as completely and harmoniously to the system as we can. Let each of us, then, be renowned for his fidelity to the Manual. If we notice any deviation or breaking of the rules, it is our duty to draw it to the attention of our local Center or to the Universal Center. You must accept the whole, or reject the whole!

FINANCIAL HELP IS NOT OUR MISSION! REFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO OTHER AGENCIES WHO ARE ESTABLISHED FOR THAT VERY PURPOSE.

Every apostle of the Living Rosary is a soldier of Mary Immaculate. We must never forget or under-estimate our privilege. We go to prepare the way for Jesus Christ, NOT TO RADIATE OURSELVES! As soldiers in the army of the Queen of Heaven, we must excel in those qualities which make us the greatest fighting force against evil known to man. We must be invincible and the secret of invincibleness lay in its spirit and its method. The individual soldier must merge his personality into that of the legion to which he belongs. Essential is our unquestioning obedience, utter devotedness, undaunted courage, dogged perseverance and absolute loyalty to the cause in even the tiniest details. These qualities super-naturalized and offered to our Queen will enable her to achieve victory. We must imitate Mary in her humility and obedience. The entire world is the great wide field of our Apostolate, awaiting conquest by the Holy Ghost through the Immaculata and her children.

The Living Rosary is a closely-knit Association. Over FIFTEEN Million members are united in one purpose. Every member in the world is connected with every other member. All are united into one; all are connected through the breath of charity. Life flows through these connections from the Heart of the Apostolate to even the smallest group, or single member living in the most remote area in the world. There is a ceaseless flowing of Grace in every direction. If there is a break in unity, life does not flow. It is loyalty which preserves the unity among all. We are not allowed to act independently. When there is a doubt or when a new and difficult situation arises, we must consult the proper authority for guidance or permission. Loyalty bears the fruit of obedience. You cannot really understand obedience unless you have deep faith. Adam sinned because he wanted to rule. That was Original Sin – the desire to rule. Original virtue, then, is the will to serve. We obey because we recognize the authority of God in all those who are over us and follow the example of Christ. To submit our wills to the wills of others, may seem like a spiritual death at times but, when it is necessary to preserve the unity and life of the work, we will bear this death gloriously.

Ideally, all the members should be familiar with the work of the whole Association. Routine and apathy will not enter in where there is a lively interest in the progress of the Association everywhere in the world. Obedience will be made so much easier if we can see the army at work as a whole. The Living Rosary Newsletter is not an extravagance or wasted effort. Through the Dedicated Decades, we can see the life of the movement rather than the qualities of the individual members. The Newsletter is vital to the loyalty, respect, support and unity of the Association. We must make every effort to see that the Newsletter reaches all members. It is our “GIFT” to each associate and a great insurance that he will continue to pray and remain in union with the Heart of the Apostolate. We must never lose that Heart! If success comes to us, we thank God for it, but our work does not depend upon it. When failure threatens us, we fight it. The more worthwhile our work, the more difficulties we will encounter. We are always on duty for souls for this is the spirit of Mary. Apathy and the spirit of Mary are contradictory. Mary could never be anything but enthusiastic in the love of virtue and the battle against sin. We must remember that we are not alone. We work for God in union with Mary and, oh, how She longs for the success of our work!!! She is the Virgin Most Powerful. We must believe in her and never forget that, through her prayers, we have at our disposal nothing less than the all-powerfulness of her Divine Son.

Our approach to souls must be like that of the Good Shepherd. Nothing in it must be controversial, nothing overbearing, nothing uncharitable and nothing critical! LET US COMBAT ERROR BY PROCLAIMING TRUTH! Our every word must breathe humility, sincerity and affection. When people see that we are sincere, kind and loving, they will not resent our approach. They will like us and that is the first step to bringing the Living Rosary into their lives and uniting them with Mary Immaculate. Remember always, that our Catholic Faith is Goodness, Truth and Beauty Itself! God created the minds of all men to appreciate and seek out what is good, true and beautiful. Let us not by-pass anyone. We must try to attract all to our precious Catholic Faith. Our greatest ally in this is the Holy Mother of God!

In His Wisdom, God knows what is best for an Apostolate which is according to His Will. In His Love, He gives it to us. He does not treat us as saints when He knows we are sinners! He does not treat us as learned when He knows we are ignorant! He does not treat us as strong when He knows we are weak! When He graces our work with the Cross, it is always to make it more fruitful. It is ever God’s pleasure to show His Power by extracting success from unpromising conditions and by accomplishing His greatest miracles of Grace through the most inadequate instrument. The more difficult the circumstances under which we have to work, the more indelibly is the Cross imprinted upon our work. The Cross is always the Sign of Hope!!! Where did She whom God loved more than all His other creatures find herself? At the foot of the Cross, with her Soul pierced by a seven-fold sword and on her head the mystic crown of Queen of Martyrs! Each and every associate is united in their desire and prayer to bring about the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary through the propagation of the Holy Rosary and the Brown Scapular. The sunshine and honey of our work is Saint Philomena who encourages us with visible signs of God’s favor. She imparts to us great courage and a solid hope of success in all that we undertake for our Rosary Queen.

Mary exists to bring Christ to the world. True union, TRUE DEVOTION to Mary cannot be separated from apostleship. United with Mary, we will mother souls.

How Our Sorrowful and Immaculate Mother gazes upon the masses of the human race today, with longing and love: upon the followers of her Son, who are so self-centered, so apathetic, so lacking in zeal; upon the wealthy materialists, upon the hundreds of millions of pagans, upon those who make war on the very idea of religion. Never was, or has there been, a greater need for a bold apostolate. Our privilege and duty as Christians demands that we take an active part in this apostleship.

At every moment, we are dependent upon Mary for Grace. This Grace is the very life of our souls. Without it, we cannot breathe spiritually and we will perish. Let us then with all zeal, no matter what sacrifice is required, bring the Immaculate Heart of Mary to souls that they may have LIFE!

Let us beg the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our beautiful Mother of Mount Carmel, to make our faith courageous. Filled with firmness of spirit, we will cast aside all fear. O Maria! Let us never submit to timidity or yield to human respect! When failure comes, let us be resilient. When the powers of hell rage around us, let us hold fast for God is with us. Against the falsehoods of the world, may we be faithful and true. May our faith be intrepid, valiant and heroic so that we are brought to the foot of the Cross of Calvary united with thy Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart in life and at the hour of our death! We must believe that we have, at our disposal, nothing short than the all-powerfulness of God Himself!

We must strive to make our souls a CITY OF THE IMMACULATE! Let us spare no sacrifice to give Our Lady to souls, and souls to Our Lady. God gives His Graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary! This Grace is life itself to the soul, and so, our mission is life-giving and vital. Saint Philomena is the New Light of the Church Militant and how badly we need her heroic charity, humility, purity and obedience to all that is the Will of God.

May God and His Blessed Mother be with you in everything that you do, ALWAYS and FOREVER! You are remembered daily in our prayers.

Yours in the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and our anchor of hope, Saint Philomena!

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

ESSENTIAL POINTS OF THE TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY

First Point: We should consecrate ourselves wholly to Mary in order to belong wholly to Jesus.

In order to practice this excellent devotion, says St. Louis Grignion, we should first choose some special feast on which to offer and consecrate ourselves to Mary; and we should, then, of our own free will, purely from love, without the least constraint, offer to Mary and through Her to Jesus, all that we are and have, without the least exception or reserve: our body with all its faculties, our exterior property such as our home, our family and our income in order to make use of them as well as we know how, for the honor of and according to the Will of God and of Mary. We should dedicate to Her, moreover, our spiritual and interior treasures, namely: our merits, Graces, virtues and good works, not only of the past and present, but also of the future; in a word, all that we have or may have in future, in the order of nature, of Grace or of glory. All this, we should dedicate to the Blessed Virgin without reserve, for all eternity, not expecting any recompense for our sacrifice other than the honor of belonging to Jesus in Mary and through Mary.

By this Act of Consecration, we sacrifice to Jesus through the hands of the ever-blessed Virgin Mary, that which is most precious and dear to us. We forfeit the right of disposing of the interior value or fruit of our good works, prayers, alms, mortifications, etc. so as to leave the entire disposal of them to the Blessed Virgin, to be applied as She wills for the great glory of God, which no one knows better than She.

Moreover, by this devotion, we give to the Mother of God all our prayers and good works that She may distribute and apply them to whomsoever She pleases. After having made this oblation though not by vow, we are no longer masters of our good works, prayers, etc. for the Blessed Virgin may apply them according to Her good pleasure: now, for the relief of a suffering Soul in Purgatory or, again, to obtain for some poor sinner the Grace of conversion.

After making the Act of Consecration, we may continue our prayers and other devotions just as before. We may pray for ourselves and for others as formerly. If Our Lady sees fit to apply our prayers according to our intention, She will do so; if not, She will apply them to a better purpose. In any case, we may be quite sure that She will not neglect our obligations of justice and charity. By giving ourselves in this manner unselfishly to Mary, neither the Souls in Purgatory, nor poor sinners, nor our friends, nor we ourselves will be the losers.

Finally, we give to Mary, in virtue of this True Devotion, our actual merit which we obtain through every truly good work. Certainly, the increase of Sanctifying Grace and heavenly reward which we merit in justice by every good work performed in the state of Grace is our own, and we cannot and do not hand it over to anyone else. But, we can offer it to Mary in the sense that we ask Her to preserve our spiritual gains and make them increase.

Second Point: We should give ourselves to Mary in the Quality of Slaves.

This devotion consists, furthermore, in giving ourselves to Mary in the quality of slaves, as Her full possession. St. Louis Grignion mentions three kinds of slavery. The first is the slavery of nature: all men, good and bad, are the slaves of God in this sense. The second is the slavery of constraint: the devils and the damned are the slaves of God in the second sense. There is nothing left for them but eternally to suffer the punishment they incurred through their own grievous fault, and thus be monuments of God’s terrible justice. The third is the slavery of love, and it is in this sense that we ought to consecrate ourselves to God through Mary, as being the most perfect way in which a creature can give himself to his Creator.

According to his nature, man must necessarily belong to God. But man can, of his own free will, ratify God’s right over him. And, since Mary is the only creature perfectly conformable to the Will of God, we can best give ourselves to Him through Mary and, with all confidence, permit Her fully to dispose of all we have or ever can have.

Happy, a thousand times happy, the generous soul who magnanimously consecrates herself entirely to Jesus through Mary as a loving slave! What a vast difference to be a slave of Mary or be a slave of Satan! By living willfully in mortal sin, one becomes a slave of Satan.

BLESSED BE THE HOLY NAME OF MARY!

Dear Apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Time flies by so quickly that the months roll into years. Never are you far from us in thought and prayer. Your love and support have helped us reach mission areas that otherwise would have been neglected. The foundation of this work has been made strong through your incredible charity. Both you and your family are remembered in our every prayer. God love you!

We must take time weekly, if not daily, to examine our homes for signs of demonic influence which can stealthily creep into them through open doors and windows. Use of the horoscope, satanic music, novels and magazines that glamorize the godless, iPod, iPhone, zodiac and charms are ever increasing. Look around you and see that people are pierced, painted, and tattooed: the young and the old, the good and the bad. These signs of the demonic surround us every day. People laugh off the notion of the Power of Evil and consider it trendy to take part in occult practices. The demonic influence which surrounds us today is a very real threat to our families’ spiritual wellbeing. We are called to be holy and without sin in the sight of God. We have been Baptized and Confirmed and, in these Sacraments, we have renounced Satan and all his pomps and works, and the empty promises of his kingdom of darkness.

The evil one can tempt us but he cannot touch us directly unless we open the door for him. He promises to give us special knowledge and powers which he cannot give: magical powers, vision into the future, and dialogue with the spirits of the dead. Horoscopes, Ouija boards, crystal balls, witchcraft, voodoo, good luck charms and hard rock music which glorify Satan, are always dangerous. The New Age Movement, an impersonal energy or force. is a form of pantheism and belongs to the occult. Our homes must be shielded from these influences. We are assaulted by them at every turn: TV, computer, iPod, game station, radio, Nintendo and every popular electronic device. We are not professed religious but as baptized Catholics we possess a mighty power that so often goes unused.

The Power of Prayer is greater than we can ever begin to comprehend! In every family, there needs to be a place in the home where the members come together and pray, an oratory with Crucifix, pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, holy water and peace, where all gather together each day as a family: our bulwark against the assaults of Satan, the sanctuary of our Daily Decade for the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

I remain, one with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

In What the True and Perfect Devotion to Mary Consists

The Blessed Virgin Mary is an excellent and easy means by which to find Grace with God. Only a few Christians have all the necessary qualities for being inflamed with the love of God and obtaining great Graces from Him, but there are none who could not easily obtain these Graces through the Blessed Virgin.

Even sinners should not abandon hope in this regard. “Mary is the hope of sinners!,” says St. Augustine. “Mary is the refuge of the wretched, the aid of the whole world,” declares St. Ephrem. Our Divine Savior willingly grants to Her what we ourselves are unworthy to receive. “Because thou wast unworthy to receive it from God, it was given to Mary that, through Her, thou might receive all thou hast,” St. Bernard tells us. God has made Her the dispenser of His Graces and decreed that Graces should come to us only through Her hands. Let us have tender devotion to the Mother, and soon we will be inflamed with love for Her Son.

In order to mount to God and be united with Him, we should use the same means He employed in descending to us. He came to us through Mary; He assumed our human nature in Mary; He imparted the plenitude of His Grace to Her that She might impart it to us. If God in His eternal Wisdom chose to come to us through Mary, should we hesitate to go to Him in the same way? If Mary found Grace, will we not also find Grace in Mary? True devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is for us the means to find superabundant Grace.

But, there are several kinds of true devotion to Mary, which St. Louis de Montfort restricts to three and, in which, the rest are included. The first is good, the second is better, and the third is by far the most excellent.

The FIRST consists in fulfilling the duties of a Christian in general, avoiding mortal sin and keeping the Commandments of God, more from a motive of love than of fear, in fulfilling the duties of one’s state of life, and in praying from time to time to the Blessed Virgin and honoring Her as the Mother of God, without however having any special devotion or affection toward Her.

The SECOND consists in having for the Blessed Virgin sentiments of highest esteem and love, strong confidence and fervent veneration. This leads one to join Her Confraternities, to pray the Rosary, to honor in a special manner Her images and altars, to take delight in listening to Her praises, etc. This devotion is holy and praiseworthy, well adapted to withdraw us from creatures and to detach us from ourselves, in order to unite us more closely with Jesus Christ.

The THIRD devotion, which is known and practiced only by chosen souls, is that which I am about to disclose to you, beloved friend, says St. Louis de Montfort. It consists in giving ourselves entirely to Mary as Her slaves and as Her full possession that, through Her, we may belong wholly to Jesus Christ; and, in such a manner, that we do all our actions WITH Mary, IN Mary, THROUGH Mary and FOR Mary, with the intention that we may be able to do them more perfectly with Jesus, in Jesus, through Jesus, and for Jesus, for the glory of the Heavenly Father.

Hence, De Montfort says: “Entrust your Graces to the powerful and faithful Virgin by consecrating to Her yourself and all your goods. She will guard you as Her property and your spiritual riches will be secure for time and Eternity.”

Dear Mother Patti,

Today, at St. André (French Parish, Elig-Effa) at 10:30 a.m. Mass, the ULRA was introduced with the help of the Parish Priest, Fr. Daniel Ewolo and his assistant. After a brief explanation of how the Living Rosary Decade is prayed, Fr. Daniel invited the congregation to meet us after Mass. The parishioners enrolled themselves as well as their entire family members. Father wants the family to be built on prayer. As you can see in the various photos, many members lined up to enroll. They were very delighted to receive the Rosary leaflets, prayer to Ven. Pauline, Miraculous Medals, Novena prayer of St. Philomena in French and most importantly to hear the testimony of Fr. Tchad. More Parishes and schools are being contacted every day.

I collected two priority boxes last Friday. Thanks for the biography of Ven. Pauline; I am still waiting for the biography of St. Philomena. God bless you and our benefactors. Ave Maria!

Weekly News Flash from the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena, Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Monday, October 6th, 2014
Dear Benefactors, Apostles and Members of the Living Rosary,

Daily, we are remembering you at the Holy Altar. At this challenging time, we are very keenly aware of the strength of our union through prayer and charity. We pray that our Sacred Masses will enrich and sustain you in your daily battle to remain virtuous and strong in the difficult days which lie ahead. This world is a place where Truth and falsehood dwell side by side. In the beginning, Truth alone was to be found. The devil introduced a lie in Paradise, and now there is great duplicity at every turn. How mighty is the tree of falsehood; how thick are its branches! Beware of false prophets! My purpose today is to talk about ONE false prophet and expose it in all its hideous deceitfulness. I refer to the opinion that it is not so very wrong to tell a lie, that under certain circumstances, it is necessary. Beware of this false prophet!

Both reason and religion teach us that even the least, and most unimportant, lie is sinful and therefore forbidden! God is Truth itself. He hates and abhors, and positively forbids every lie. The devil was the first liar and, through his lies, he led our first parents to the Original Sin which plunged the entire human race into misery.

The liar disfigures his soul and he becomes an enemy of God. Take care, then, never to depart from the Truth. God punishes lying very severely. Most people do not scruple a lie, especially when in doing so they injure no one. The world is full of deceit. The world reasons that surely it may depart from the Truth in order to maintain peace at home, or with neighbors, for gain or to avoid quarrels and strife. Yet, in every one of these cases lying is sinful and reprehensible. It is not possible to imagine circumstances in which it is allowable to utter a lie. This is the doctrine of Holy Mother the Church. Let us never speak ill of another person as, through our speech, we may destroy his reputation and ruin his family. God forbid!

Let us praise, uplift and compassionate our brothers and sisters in Christ. In whatever they may have wronged us, through our charity, it will be repaired. Much too often we look to the eye of our brother seeing the cause of our demise, when actually it is due to the downfall of our own pride and deceptions. How important for us to be humble, honest, truthful and sacrificial in our outreach to mankind to prepare the way for the Kingdom of God that it may touch the very hearts and souls of mankind!

We appreciate so much your love and sacrifice for the Church in Ukraine which is suffering greatly during these days of revolution and persecution. We offer up our sufferings for those in West Africa, who are plagued with the deadly Ebola virus. May God shower His Infinite Mercy upon us all!

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

+ In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Fr. IVAN KOLODIY
Byzantine Rite, Greek-Catholic Church, UKRAINE

TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY (continued)

GLORIOUS MOTHER! PRIVILEGED CHILDREN!

There is no creature, nor will there ever be one, in which God is so highly exalted as He is in the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is the unspeakable world into which the Son of God has entered to work His marvels and to take His pleasure therein. Mary is the City of God, the living throne of God!

Happy, thrice happy here below, the soul to whom the Holy Spirit reveals the Secret of Mary; yes, reveals Mary herself! Happy the soul to whom He opens this garden enclosed, permitting it to enter therein and have access to this sealed fountain, so that the soul may draw there from and drink deeply of the living water of Grace! Such a soul will, without the aid of any other creature, find God and God alone in this most sweet creature. There is no place in which the creature can find his Creator nearer to himself and more proportioned to his weakness than in Mary, for it was for this end that Christ descended to Her. Everywhere else He is, as it were, the Bread of the strong and the Bread of Angels but, in Mary, He is the Bread of children.

Mary’s transformation into God surpasses that of the greatest and most privileged Saints as much as Heaven is higher than the earth. Mary was made only for God and rests only in God. Whenever we give ourselves to Mary, we will experience that She does not keep us for herself but, on the contrary, immediately submerges us into God and unites us with Him. Mary is the faithful echo of God. When we say “Mary,” Mary answers, “God.”

When Elizabeth called Mary blessed because she believed, Mary glorified only the Most High by exclaiming, “My soul magnifies the Lord.” (Lk. 1:46) What Mary did on this occasion, She continues to do always. If She is praised, loved, honored and extolled, God is thereby praised, loved, glorified and extolled by Mary and through Mary. Whatever is given or offered to Mary is in reality given to God through and in Mary.

When we have once found Mary and, by Mary, Jesus and, by Jesus, God the Father, we have found all friendship with God, all safety from the enemies of God, all truth as opposed to falsehood, complete victory over the difficulties of salvation, all sweetness and all joy amidst the bitterness of life.

SUFFERINGS BECOME MORE MERITORIOUS!

Through Mary and by true devotion to Her, we obtain all good and every Grace. Through Her, we find all friendship with God and all sweetness amidst the bitterness of this life. Yet, we must not conclude that they who have found the true devotion to Mary will be exempt from crosses and sufferings. On the contrary, they may be assailed by more trials than others, because Mary, the Mother of the Living, gives to Her children portions of the Tree of Life, the Cross of Jesus. But, in choosing their special crosses, She obtains for them the Grace to carry them with patience and even with joy, so that the crosses are rather sweet than bitter. If Her clients taste the bitterness of the chalice which they must drink in order to be the friends of God, the consolation and joy which this good Mother gives, after the sorrow, encourages them exceedingly to carry still heavier crosses and endure still more bitter trials.

Yes, even while they are carrying their crosses, Mary enables Her faithful and special servants to endure their suffering more easily, more meritoriously and with a greater claim to future glory. What would be an obstacle a thousand times to another or cause him to fall, will not retard the progress of Mary’s child, but will further it.

This good Mother, full of Grace and the unction of the Holy Spirit, will sweeten with the honey of Her love and goodness the bitterness of these crosses which She herself prepares, as fruit is sweetened by sugar; so that, although naturally disagreeable and bitter, Her faithful servants receive them joyfully as though they were full of sweetness.

And, I believe, adds St. Louis Grignion, that no one who desires to live piously in Jesus Christ and consequently suffer persecutions, will ever be able to carry great crosses cheerfully and perseveringly, without having fervent devotion to Our Blessed Lady.

SHE WHO WEEPS!

High amidst the Alpine peaks in Dauphiny, France, near the vault of Heaven, lies La Salette. Our Lady of Sorrows appeared to Melanie and Maximin at noon as the Angelus bells rang out. Melanie perceived a strange light. A Woman sat weeping, her face buried in her hands and her elbows resting on her knees. Melanie cried out, “O my God!” The beautiful lady rose and folded her arms across her breast. She took a couple of steps and called them to her, “Come near, my children, do not be afraid; I am here to tell you great news.”

Our Lady gazed at them for a moment and then lowered her eyes. While tears trickled down her cheeks, She spoke her message: “If my people will not submit, I shall be forced to let fall the Arm of my Son. It is so heavy that I can no longer withhold it. So long a time do I suffer for you. I am compelled to pray without ceasing. And you, you take no heed of it. However much you pray, however much you do, you will never recompense the pains I have suffered for you.”

On a small golden chain around her neck was a brilliant Crucifix with a yet more brilliant Christ. From either arm of the Cross stood out the hammer and open pliers. The beautiful Lady reproved men for the desecration of the Holy Name of Jesus, neglect of the Sabbath and disregard for the Laws of the Church. Her rebukes were mingled with odious announcements which bore the stamp of the Queen of Prophets. She asked the shepherds if they said their prayers well, morning and night. Our Lady’s benediction wafted down from her Alpine shrine of La Salette and shed its saving balm over a weary and sin-sick world.

“There will come a famine; children under seven will be seized by trembling and will die in the arms of their parents; walnuts will become worm eaten, the grapes will rot. My children, make this known to all my people.”

In the realm of human realities, there are two perfections without comparison: the Blood of Christ and the Tears of His Mother. The tears of Our Lady’s Transfixion spilled down from Calvary’s Hill and fell in cascades over all living hearts. The coldness and scorn displayed towards God’s Mother is the most crucifying form of contempt and the most diabolical outrage poured out against His Sacred Humanity. Such unparalleled sacrilege must inflame His Heart to its very depth. At La Salette, Mary is alone. Suffering is the key word! Here is the solution for every human life on earth; the springboard for every higher achievement. Yet people absolutely refuse to understand that suffering is really necessary! Mary sat alone on that mysterious rock which reminds us of the other rock upon which the Church is built. On her breast, She wore the instruments of her Child’s torture and She wept as no one has wept in two thousand years! “So long a time do I suffer for you, and you take no heed of it!”

She, whom the Church proclaims Our Life, Our Sweetness and Our Hope; She who is the Cause of our Joy! The apparition of Our Lady at La Salette took place on the eve of the Feast of Our Lady of the Seven Dolors. Oh, what a sea of tears and sorrow Mary was tossed upon when She beheld in her arms the Body of her Divine Son taken down from the Cross, blood drenched, wounded from head to foot, pierced by a lance and lifeless.

Theologians tell us that one of the surest signs of predestination is devotion to Mary’s Sorrows. The Queen of Paradise came down from Heaven to weep for her ungrateful children who would be lost. Mary has compassion on the multitude. In the face of our misery, She extends to us mercy. Naked, torn and lifeless, Mary calls us to Herself: “Come near, my children, be not afraid. I am here!”

Coming from the mouth of Mary Immaculate, who stands above the law of common man, it is a declaration of supreme authority, an act by which She assumes the position of Conqueror: Evil is trampled under her feet. Mary comes to bring us great news, the world nears the brink of ruin, and with it all its riches, intoxications, pleasures, philosophies, civilizations, battle fields and triumphal arches; all these shall wither and vanish, because men will not submit to God. The Arm of my Son weighs heavily upon them. “How often I have gathered my children together, like a hen gathers her young underneath her wings, but thou wouldst not!”

Noah spent 100 years building what was to be the symbol of Our Lady, Reconciler of Sinners, that is to say the Ark, which was destined to be born like the Spirit of God, upon waters, above the highest mountains. In this Ark was to be saved a small number of the elect. The people laughed at Noah who was a true spectacle: old, and without any knowledge of building or navigation. Yet, sudden cessation of all mockery came when the water rose seventeen thousand cubits above the mouths of those who laughed. Borne on the water, the Ark of Salvation ceased to be an oracle of wrath and became, in truth, the honored Vessel of the world’s hope! They alone will be saved and truly reconciled who implore Mary’s protection and seek her as their last hope!

Mary is Sovereign; Mary is Mother! The submission She requires of us concerns her glory, which is God’s eternal desire. Mary is the House of God, the Portal of Heaven. Her sovereignty is the meeting ground for all the contradictions of Pride. Taking away from Mary this crown of universal sovereignty is an infringement on God’s Glory; it is also a stemming of God’s Grace, depriving human nature of its participation in divine life. The all-powerful Suppliant, to whom God refuses nothing, has to come down from Heaven, weeping, to tell us the news of her helplessness.

When Heaven has recourse to means such as these, the need must be appalling! Man is borne up from earthly things with two wings: Simplicity and Purity. With sovereign authority, Mary tells us that the source of our wrong lies in our will and nowhere else. We are wretched creatures created to obey, and we refuse to submit! The message of La Salette contains terrible implications, but the future will most likely tear off the veil of mystery and reveal the text translated into blood on every hearthstone in the land. People will not submit and the City of God suffers violence. The Angels and Saints are sounding this alarm in Heaven!

For two thousand years, Christ’s Sacrifice has been renewed but, today, Mary who has the right to offer Him, declares that She can no longer effectively do so, because the clamor of our revolt stifles her cry of intercession. The Arm of her Son is so heavy that she can no longer hold it aloft by the counterweight of her prayer. The tears of Our Lady flowed before, during and after the discourse. Mary’s tears are the very Blood of Jesus Christ shed in some way just as her compassion: a two-fold effusion of one and the same heart. One might say that the Compassion of the Blessed Virgin Mary was the Passion Itself under its most terrible aspect. “The affiliation of Christ was my own affiliation because His Heart was my heart, for just as Adam and Eve sold the world for a single apple, so my Son and I bought it back with a single heart.”

The Mother of God has wept. She has given birth to us in the order of Grace – that alone suffices to make us understand how faint are the effusions of our own cowardly hearts. If Mary had not wept, the soul of man would have become parched and withered. What sorry creatures we are. The responsibility rests upon each one of us, but our pride revolts at the word chastisement! We look for natural causes through scientific explanations that contain no room for God’s intervention.

Through her martyrdom, Mary has become in a special way the comforter of the afflicted. In the company of our Sorrowful Mother, we will walk more easily, fight more courageously, and suffer more patiently. When the Hand of God lays a heavy cross upon our shoulders, let us turn to Mary sorrowing and then we shall obtain consolation and strength to carry the cross with patience, perseverance and joy!

WITH MARY, EVERYTHING! WITHOUT MARY, NOTHING!

Dearest Patti,

I am happy to inform you that our First National Congress was held last Saturday, August 30th and was very successful. We had fine weather for the day. I requested all the Leaders to have three days of prayers in their various places throughout the country before the commencement of the Congress at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, Kumasi. I honored 41 good and active Leaders, including our National Council Executive Members and Leaders from all the Dioceses in the Country, by presenting to them gold and silver medallions as their awards. Some Leaders and Members traveled over 450 miles for the Congress. They were very happy for the award as it took them by surprise and, indeed, very much
encouraged them. Also, I gave three Certificates of honor as awards to our good Archbishop Emeritus Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Rev. Fr. Prof. John Appiah Poku and Rev. Fr. Augustine Ntim Duodu. All these awards were presented by Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, Archbishop of Kumasi.

On August 25, just five days prior to the Conference, I received very sad news from Most Rev. Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi, informing me that he was extremely sorry that he could not attend the Congress because he had a bad fall which had resulted in him being fitted with Plaster of Paris. “I am sure Our Lady of Holy Rosary will bless you all!” Therefore, his Certificate of Honor was received on his behalf by Most Rev. Thomas Mensah who is also an Archbishop Emeritus. I will write the THANK YOU LETTERS to the Bishops, Parish Priests, and Leaders throughout the Country to show my appreciations for all who took part. Yes, many souls were won for Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary and in honor of St. Philomena, our Patroness and Protectress.

Once again, thank you very much for your great support. The devotional items you sent in the thousands were very much enough, so each and every one had a share. May God bless you endlessly! Peace be to you, Patti, and all our Benefactors! Yours in Jesus and Mary,

Anthony – GHANA

This is the box we send out to the foreign Missions $77.95. It contains Rosaries, Scapulars, Miraculous Medals, Cord & Oil, Newsletters, Calendars, Catechism books, 2 TAN books, large color prints, lists and encouragements for our Promoters.

Weekly News Flash from the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena, Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Monday, October 6th, 2014
Dear Mrs. Patti Melvin,

Today, I would like to inform you about the situation in Ukraine and our Living Rosary Association Center. I want to assure you and all the members of Living Rosary that the Center which is in Western Ukraine is far from the war zone and it is functioning very well. We do not feel the conflict in this part of the country. Our priests are offering all the Sacred Masses you have requested, and we do pray every day for all the members of Living Rosary and for all the intentions which our members mention. The enrollment in the Living Rosary grows each day because many people realize that the Virgin Mary is the Protection of God to save Ukraine from Russian takeover. This month, the Living Rosary Center published the church calendar for the New Year. We share with all the people the information about Saint Philomena and the Living Rosary Association. Therefore, we send to all the new members Rosaries and the prayer book which has information about our Saint Philomena and the Living Rosary.

This month, we were able to send many prayer books to the troops in the Eastern Ukraine along with the Rosaries, Scapulars and Miraculous Medals which you sent me. Our Ukrainian troops protect our independence and the freedom of the Catholic religion in Ukraine. Please keep them in your prayers.

Dear Mrs. Patti, I am involved in the construction of our church which is in very bad condition. I have to accomplish this task because the bishop asked me to renew the parish and rebuild the church. The Living Rosary at the parish is helping me so much! The ULRA is making parish prayer strong and dynamic. I do feel the financial difficulties with the rebuilding of the parish but I pray to God and the Virgin Mary to help me in this situation. The Center of the Living Rosary is focusing on devotion to Saint Philomena, Confession and Holy Communion. This makes people spiritually strong and changes their lives.

At the present moment, we are welcoming more children to the devotion of Saint Philomena. We designed the prayer card and prayer book for the children with information about Saint Philomena and her story of how to become a saint.

Many people are writing letters telling us about the power of the intersession of Saint Philomena. Therefore, I wish to thank you, dear Mrs. Patti, and all the members of the Living Rosary for your generous support and loving care for all our members in Ukraine.

We hereby ask you to continue supporting our most important mission among the youth and children of Ukraine.

I impart to all of you, my priestly blessing:

+ In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Dear Apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,Thank you for your very gracious donation which is a crowning glory to God’s holy Mother. Mary is the House of God and the Portal of Heaven. Without Mary, the life of Grace is hindered and many are deprived of its divine stream. Through your immense love, the Virgin of virgins spreads out over the whole world Her azure mantle fringed beneath with celestial light, like an imperial pavilion, covering the whole world that the human race may find sanctuary. May God reward you!

The gravity of the events of the past years, the endless wars which have ravaged the earth and all the disorders
of body and soul, help us to realize that we need God. These events by their exceptional gravity and atrocity show what becomes of men when God is driven out. No longer do they have faith, hope or love. The spirit of evil stirs up their selfishness and feeds the fire of discord. The devil reigns through hate and division; Our Father in Heaven reigns through unity and love. To find peace again and tranquility of order, it is required to love, above all else, truth, justice, equity and goodness: We must love the Living God, Who is Truth Itself and Sovereign Goodness. Holy lives, united families and the Laws of Christ are the victims of today’s battle against God and man. His Holiness Leo XIII, on the first day of the 20th Century, consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. His Holiness Pius XII, during the Second World War, consecrated the entire human race to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Consecration of Christian families to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of May will obtain for them a more enlightened and strong faith, a greater confidence in God, and a deeper love of God. It will make the mutual affection of husband and wife more generous and devoted, and will strengthen the love of the children for one another. This Consecration is also a reparation which recognizes the rights of Christ the King, so often ignored in our day. At La Salette, Mary bore the instruments of Her Child’s torture and She wept:

I remain, one with you in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

PATTI MELVIN, Director ULRA

Let us pray for one another.

Dear Patti,I sent an e-mail some weeks ago thanking you for the many gifts.

I am only worried that you did not receive it.

We are so blessed with the Sacramentals. I remember Earl so well, who made the lovely chaplets in crystal glass beads for our beloved Princess.

Patti, the world is in a desperate situation. We are so near Turkey and the Middle East. We are rightly worried about the threat of Islam. God help us all!

Meanwhile, we turn to the Immaculate Heart in whom we trust to deliver us unto her Divine Son, our only Lord, Redeemer and Savior. May that be a comfort unto us in these perverse times! Thank you, Patti, please pray for us.

I continue to offer the Holy Mass on the First Saturday of each month for the Living Rosary members of the Scapular Confraternity.

With respect and filial affection,

Your poor Father Luke of the Holy Ghost, OFM

Vicar General and Parish Priest

Dearest Patti Melvin,Greetings of love and peace!

On August 22, the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was offered in our chapel (Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart). It was a very special day, since the Archdiocese of Cebu is also celebrating the Feast of Mary, Queen and Patroness of the Visayas.

Attached here are group photos of the people in our chapel, together with our Parish Priest, Monsignor Alfredo Romanillos, Jr. Everyone who attended the Mass was imposed with the Brown Scapular. Almost all who attended the Mass are members of the Living Rosary.

The members were very happy and grateful when we told them that the ULRA helped in the rebuilding of the chapel and we are able to continue the monthly Mass here. We also pray the Rosary in our chapel. With your help, we were able to place a roof and ceiling in our chapel, the Stations of the Cross and the three crosses were rebuilt and electricity was installed there. Once again, thank you very much for your support!

However, there are still many things lacking in our chapel. Right now, our chapel has no side walls yet and we are using plastic chairs and the Altar floor has no tiles. We are praying that there will be generous donors who will sponsor the altar pews, walls and the tiles in the chapel altar. Please include us in your prayers that we would be able to fulfill this dream.

May Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph and St. Philomena bless and protect you, your family and our benefactors, always!

TRUE DEVOTION TO Mary (continued)

TRANSFORMATION INTO JESUS CHRIST

In this deification and transformation to which our souls are destined by the Will of God, Mary is the mold and the form, so to speak, in which our souls are to be cast. He, who is in this mold, is soon transformed and molded into Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is molded in him. In a short time, he will become conformable to God and will resemble God.

This transformation into Christ may be effected in two ways:

The first is after the manner common to all true Christians, by keeping the Commandments, by prayer, by worthy reception of the Sacraments, by striving for true virtue without, however, practicing any more excellent or special devotion to the Mother of God.

The second way is the particular manner in and with Mary, making use of all the means just mentioned but, while applying them, submerging oneself as it were, entirely into the interior of Mary by the true devotion which is about to be explained and by abandoning oneself wholly to the operation of the Holy Spirit.

To explain this truth, St. Louis Grignion de Montfort uses a comparison. He says, one can make a lifelike statue in two ways: By carving the figure out of some hard material, using skill, strength and good instruments or by using a mold.

He then continues: It seems to me that I can aptly compare directors and devout persons who wish to form Jesus Christ in themselves or in others, to sculptors who trust in their own professional skill. How hard they must work to bring out the image of Our Savior from a piece of hard wood or rock, and how often it happens that their work is spoiled because they do not know Jesus Christ sufficiently or make an awkward blow! Those who embrace this True Devotion to Mary which I am revealing, may be compared to founders and casters who have discovered the beautiful and perfect mold of Mary, where Jesus was naturally and divinely formed. Without trusting in their own skill, but only in the perfection of the mold, they cast themselves in Mary, in order to become more truly and perfectly changed into the likeness of Jesus Christ.

O beautiful and true comparison! But remember, unless a person is earnestly intent on overcoming his evil inclinations and truly imitating Christ and His Blessed Mother, he cannot be transformed into Jesus or Mary.

Whoever is cast in the mold of Mary by this true and perfect devotion to Her, whoever gives himself to Mary without hindering Her by his evil inclinations, receives therein all the features of Jesus Christ, Who is true God; and this is done gently and in a manner well fitted to our human frailty.

After St. Louis de Montfort has shown in these eight points that Mary is the means decreed by God through which we receive from Him all good and every Grace, and by which we are actually transformed into Her Divine Son, he breaks forth in praise of Mary. He pronounces those blessed who find Her through this holy and sublime devotion.
