Tuesday, July 14, 2009Dear Brothers & Sisters,Warm & Prayerful Greetings. The Feast of St. Philomena, Patroness of Living Rosary and Children of Mary falls on August 11th. The novena starts on August 2nd. Please start the novena to St. Philomena for her intercession towards our spiritual and temporal needs from 2nd August. We are having Holy Mass on August 9th Sunday at 11.00 a.m. at St. Jude’s Church, Vanuvampet, and Medavakkam Main Road in honor of St. Philomena and St, John Maria Vianney Patron of Parish Priests. Please attend without fail with all your members Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI declared THE YEAR FOR PRIESTS for honoring St. John Maria Vianney (the Cure of Ars) from June 19, 2009 to June 19, 2010, as a World Day of prayer for sanctification of Priests. As you know, after every day’s Holy Mass Prayer for Priests are recited in all our Churches in Tamilnadu. The Universal Living Rosary Association has a providential connection to St. John Maria Vianney. He was a dear friend of Living Rosary Foundress Ven. Pauline Marie Jaricot. Ven. Pauline Maria Jaricot the Living Rosary Foundress shared her story of miraculous cure by St. Philomena. She also presented Relics (1st class) of St. Philomena to St. John Maria Vianney obtained from St. Philomena Shrine, Mugnano, Italy. She prophetically told St. John Maria Vianney, “Have full confidence in this great Saint Philomena; she will obtain for you all that you wish”. St. John Maria Vianney did as told by Ven. Pauline & became one of the greatest devotees and promoters of St. Philomena. The ULRA has decided to support the YEAR OF PRIESTS and observe 40 days of prayers and fasting for the sanctification of Priests all over the world. For people and Priests who pray for Priests, Holy Father has granted Plenary Indulgences. We can gain Plenary Indulgences on 1ST Thursday of the month and other established days according to the Church. The Indulgencies can be gained after the people cleanse themselves for their sins through Sacramental Confession and pray for the intentions of our Holy Father the Pope. Details of observance of fasting and prayers for Priests will be announced on 9th August during the celebration in honor of St. Philomena and St. John Maria Vianney. The Holy Mass on 9th of August will be concelebrated at 11.00 AM at St. Jude’s Church by Rev. Fr. Ignatius Prasad, Universal Living Rosary Spiritual Director and Rev. Fr. Wednesday, March 11, 2009Dear Patti Melvin,Greetings from peace and love from All Saints Mission, Rongara, India! I am Fr. Joseph Onelil, the parish priest of All Saints Mission, Rongara under the diocese of Tura, Meghalaya, INDIA. Fr. Jojo Ancheril introduced you to me and the ministry you undertake to spred the devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Our parish is the remotest parish of the diocese of Tura. There are about 6840 Catholics under the parish and there is good scope of many more people coming over to Catholicism. All the parishnors are tribals belonging to Garo tribe. The faith in these parts of the country is comparitively new but people manifest great religious fervour. there is a strong presence of other denominations too. The faithful of the parish have great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Even though we are often belittled by other denominations for our devotion to the Blessed Mother, we are unpreturbed. We proudly manifest our filial devotion to her. We have a strong "Marian Sodality Group" the members of which involve in a big way to promote the Marian Devotion. We have regular Rosary for which many faithful gather and specially on Saturdays Marian Sodality members gather to pray Rosary. Praying Rosary has become an integral part of the family prayer of the people. People celebrate with great enthusiasm all the Feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We conduct Marian Processions, Bible Rosary (Solemn Rosary with readings from the Bible), group rosaries, neighbourhoo rosaries etc. As I said before, it is a very secluded area surrounded by thick jungles. The Parish area lies on the international border of India and Bangladesh. Religious articles are not available in our locality. We have to procure them from very far areas. The items like rosaries are really costly here. As these tribal people are really poor, many of them cannot afford to purchase them. And also we do not have much literature on Marian devotions. therefore, on behalf of the parishnors of All Saints Mission, Rongara i request you to kindly send us Rosaries and literature on Marian devotion which could be distributed freely for the people here. May God bless you and the Mother intercede for you always! Hope to hear from you, Yours in the Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fr. Joseph Onelil All Saints Mission Meghalaya India |
