Happy feast of St. Philomena, virgin and martyr! I celebrated today the Holy Mass at our Franciscan private Chapel of the Sorrowful Mother on Calvary at the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem at 9:00 a.m. today, August 10 for the intentions of the directress Patti Melvin, the volunteers, employees, benefactors and the universal members of the Universal Living Rosary of St. Philomena both living and deceased. As has been my tradition, I put on the red St. Philomena chasuble which was sent by Mrs. Patti Melvin from Texas and the St. Philomena corporal which was made especially by Mrs. Terri de los Santos of Los Angeles at the altar and put the copies of the member’s names and countries underneath the corporal. My friend, Philippe Masson, a former pilgrim who is the instant God-sent answer to my prayers, was the only one at the private chapel. He was delighted to have assisted me in the Holy Mass. He was pleased to learn about the life and martyrdom of St. Philomena for the first time during my short homily. I always remember you in my daily Mass celebration and Rosary. We truly have a great wonder worker saint as intercessor in heaven. May the Lord grant our good heart's desires through the intercession of St. Philomena, virgin and martyr. Once again, happy feast of our great Saint Philomena! Prayerful best wishes to all! |

Thursday, October 15, 2009Dear Patti,I received the parcel of rosaries and other devotionals a few days ago. I couldn't write you earlier because I had troubles with my computer. I have been distributing the rosaries, booklets and other Sacramentals to the parishioners and members of the Philippine Chaplaincy of the Holy Land. I also received the letter with the stipend for the month of October. Thank you very much for your continuous support. I celebrated the Solemn High Mass today, Oct. 15 at the Tomb of the Lord at the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre for you and for all our members’ intentions. It is indeed a great privilege for me to celebrate this Mass at the Tomb early in the morning. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Angelo Jerusalem |

Wednesday, September 16, 2009Dear Patti,Thank you very much for your Email. It has been my habit to pray for daily you and all the Universal Living Rosary Association of St. Philomena (ULRA): Holy Mass, the Holy Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet and Way of the Cross. I believe firmly that praying for the whole ULRA is a privileged blessing for me. The luminous Rosaries and other Sacramentals that you have been sending have been very popular among the recipients, mostly Filipino migrant workers. Because the rosaries are luminous, it is an added reminder to pray the Holy Rosary daily. The ULRA of St. Philomena is now quite popular at the St. Joseph Latin Parish Church. The Discalced Carmelite priests and nuns serve in the parish. The Carmelite Order started in the twelfth century from this region. I celebrate the Holy Mass for the Filipino migrant workers and for the English speaking parishioners in this church on the fourth Saturday of the month. It is a large beautiful church that could accommodate some 500 people. I wish I could give each one a Rosary this October. The Missionary Sisters of Mother Teresa from Jordan and Gaza, Autonomous Occupied Territory of Palestine have been asking me also for those rosaries. I told them to write to you. I would like to campaign in all the Franciscan and Carmelite parishes in Israel and Palestine to intensify the praying of the Holy Rosary this coming October. I celebrate the Holy Mass in most of these parishes. All your booklets are also very helpful. We are celebrating the Jewish New Year on Sept. 20. It will be Year 5770 in the Jewish calendar. May it be a year of justice and peace in the Holy Land. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Angelo Ison, ofm Jerusalem |

Thursday, February 26, 2009 The late David Haynes will be remembered in my prayers. I thank you very much for the personal letter and the February stipend which I received yesterday. I greatly appreciate that you included my letter with the other testimonies. I find all the ULR booklets and leaflets very interesting and helpful. You truly have a great mission in bringing the Lord and the Blessed Mother to the world. I gave the rosaries, scapulars and the miraculous medals to the Sisters of Mother Teresa for distribution in Gaza and in Jordan. I asked the Mother Teresa's sister in Amman, Jordan to contact you directly. Be assured of my prayers for you and all your employees, workers and members, both living and decease in the daily Mass and at the Way of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa every Friday. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Angelo Ison, OFM Jerusalem |

Thursday, January 29, 2009Dear Patti,Peace and all that is good be with you! Thank you very much for the large package of sacramentals, rosaries and the Miraculous Medals, etc. Many Catholics form Jorand and Gaza will receive them. I will try to organize the ULR in Amman among the Filipino migrant workers. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Angelo Israel |

Monday, January 19, 2009 Dear Patti, Peace and all that is good be with you! The Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa from Gaza and Jordan have been requesting me for Rosaries and Miraculous Medals. It is impossible to send them directly to Gaza. Please, send me as many as you can and I will distribute it to them. There have been too many requests in my communities for these religious articles also. The Sisters of Mother Teresa in Gaza as well as the 13 Filipina wives in Gaza are my new heroes. They were given permission to leave for their own safety during the war but they chose to remain. The four Mother Teresa sisters chose to remain to take care of the handicapped children and the sick in their house but the two Mother Teresa sisters had to leave against their will. The two sisters from Gaza were with me at the Tomb of the Lord on January 13 while celebrating the Holy Mass for all the members of URL of St. Philomena. They were truly grateful that I gave them a dozen luminous rosaries from the Universal Living Rosary Association of St. Philomena. The Filipinas married to Palestinians wouldn't leave their children and their husbands alone in Gaza. I continue praying for you, all volunteers and all your members daily in the Holy Mass in the shrines of the Holy Land. I remembered you especially at the Grotto of the Nativity during Christmas and Three Kings. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Angelo Jerusalem Israel |

Thursday, January 8, 2009Dear Patti,Shalom from the Holy Land! I thank you for your letter with the stipend of Dec. 26. I always feel so inspired by your letter and the other letters/articles written in the pamphlet. "IT TAKES MANY WEAPONS TO FIGHT A WAR, ONLY ONE WEAPON TO STOP THE WAR, THE Rosary." It will be theme of my homily during these times of war in Israel, Gaza and Lebanon. Needless, to say, there is presently so much uneasy tension all around. It is too quiet all around yet it is not peaceful. I could feel the depression and frustration in everybody's face. Many pilgrims are just too scared to go around, the vendors along the streets are angry, the pilgrims' guides are deeply depressed. We can only pray unceasingly for peace and justice. Thank you for the Universal Living Rosary of St. Philomena. There are millions who still pray the Rosary. Be assured of my daily prayers in the Holy Mass for your employees, workers, all the members, living and deceased, the sick and the suffering. I remembered you especially all during the Holy Midnight Mass with the new Latin Patriarch in Bethlehem and on Three Kings Day. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Angelo Jerusalem Israel Please Click here to read a copy of Fr. Angelo's letter |

Monday, January 5, 2009Dearest Patti! May love and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, I am fine and keeping well. Life here in Israel is not good for so many souls; people are dying each day by war. We have some Catholic members in Gaza, they are suffering lot. Please pray for the people of Israel, both Jews and Palestinian. God loves all people; this is the land where Christ lived. Pray for the people who live in Gaza, that there would be peace and the peace of Christ in their hearts and lives. Finally, we have seventy-five new Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena members if you can try to send us Rosary and Scapular; I will send you their list soon. Union with Mary our Mother. Bro. Fikremariam Philiops Jerusalem Israel |

Dear Patti, Thank you for your prayers for us here in the Holy Land. It is peaceful here in Jerusalem but we could feel the tension and the uneasiness of the Palestinians and the Israelis. I feel sorry for the Gazan’s who have been trapped by their Hamas leaders. They have nowhere to go. There are some 150 Roman Catholic families in Gaza. A few years ago, their school and church were destroyed by the Hamas. One 16 year old Roman Catholic teenager, Christine, just died of shock when a bomb hit a neighboring house. The Apostolic Delegate of Jerusalem and Papal Nuncio in Israel, (two titles but one person) Msgr. A. F., and our entourage were not allowed to go to Gaza last November and December. I don't want to comment on politics. We would appreciate if you could continue praying for peace and justice in the Holy Land. Prayerful best wishes, Fr. Ang. Jerusalem Israel |
